They maybe ok for a branch where a failure has no knock-on consequences, but if that branch has to run on a mainline at one end, oh dear... Roy Ive found Northerns 769’s to be ok when ive ridden on them. A bit weird to hear a diesel engine kick in, sounds like a 150 but then starts moving and sounds like an EMU as well, depending which coach your in. progress at Bolton ? Is it .. As I understand it, Northern are still threatening to stand them down if reliability does not inprove. I think they are ok when they work, if they will work is another matter. Considering what Bachmann have done on the newer DMUs an elegant solution here would be preferred. At least 3 different manufacturers have claimed that tooling technicalities, and expenses and fragility make it impossibly difficult to put a grab rail in the side wall recesses of a door, and opt instead for the wire to go straight into the facing sides of the door but bend the wire to look like its coming out of the side walls…. The sidewalls look like they are at about 45 degrees though, so completely different to say on a 37 where it's more or less square other than any draft they put on it.
