Co-tr-Paul
Bath in 2001, was doing Badgerline routes at the time so knew it well. Does it qualify for "old" and 20 years plus as posted earlier ?!! Well no low floors !! Doesn't seem old to me but Darts and Olympians are now part of the preservation scene !

laurenceb
My first encounter with the VAL would be just after Barton Transport introduced them, this odd looking bus with six wheels appeared and I insisted on getting on. Ony problem was that it was going the wrong way! The Barton driver flagged down a Trent bs going the other way and a quick change to a Derby bound bus was made.

PatB
Celebrating 30 years of Bristol REs, Bristol Festival of Transport, 199?, here's 8 of them ! That looks awfully familiar. I think I was there in 1991 so maybe then?
Unicorn1
This is RF 530, my own bus for seven years. I used to especially enjoy taking her to the North Weald Rally because soon after coming through the Dartford Tunnel I could pick up the old 250 route to Epping. RF530 worked the 250 for a while and I have a photo taken in the 1960's of the bus at this very bus stop, the Bull at Theydon Bois. I miss the bus terribly, but she's still around - and last I heard had a class 6 ticket as well. Les

I can't remember but weather was poor and was still being held at former Whitchurch aerodrome, now Hengrove bus depot is nearby!
PatB
I can't remember but weather was poor and was still being held at former Whitchurch aerodrome, now Hengrove bus depot is nearby! As a newly licensed motorcyclist, I remember getting rained on a lot in 1991, although my abiding memory of Whitchurch Aerodrome is of a biting and icy wind sweeping across broken concrete . Guest
Ignore this post. Just a "thank you" to contributors and a kind of personal "placeholder" so the thread shows up in My Content. My name's Pete and I have a problem. I quite like buses...

bingley hall
The two pics posted earlier were the only two decent shots I got of East Kent buses at work. It was over 40 years later before I got another chance to photograph them, obviously by now in preservation. Regent Vs at the Herne Bay - 9 August 2015.
Popular Post Jon Fitness
Had an excellent day at the Ribble Vehicle Preservation Trust's Morecambe running event on Sunday. From many vehicles that were there on the Prom, these were a few of the many which were running a free service between Heysham/Morecambe/ Carnforth. There was also a short circular run out from Morecambe via Bare. This was on the latter service A 1938 Leyland TD5, rebodied postwar with a lowbridge body. Next up from Morecambe to Heysham then all the way through to Carnforth was this 1967 Blackpool Leyland PD3 with a Met-Cam body. On Carnforth Station is this excellent little boozer called the Snug. Highly recommended for a nice range of ales and convivial atmosphere. On Sundays, some of the locals bring in freshly cooked snacks for all to nibble on! Taking us back as far as Morecambe in fine style was this 1958 Barrow Corporation PD2 which has recently gained a refurbished engine. Another run out on the Bare circular was taken on this Blackburn Guy Arab with a Crossley body. The only open topper at the event was this ex Ribble Bristol VR Mk1 which after being transferred to Eastern Counties was given a chop top! As the sun was out it would have been rude not to so off to Carnforth and back again. Final run of the day was taken on the star of the show (for me anyway!) a Ribble Leyland PD3/5 "tank" . Very loud and snorty with a melodious pneumocyclic gearbox, it did a passable impersonation of a first generation DMU and made all the right PD3 sounds. Great end to an excellent day. The program was £3 and all our loose change made it into various collection tins. Hope fully my own bus will be attending next year if I can get my @rse in gear and finish it!
