Bath in 2001, was doing Badgerline routes at the time so knew it well. Does it qualify for "old" and 20 years plus as posted earlier ?!! Well no low floors !! Doesn't seem old to me but Darts and Olympians are now part of the preservation scene !

My first encounter with the VAL would be just after Barton Transport introduced them, this odd looking bus with six wheels appeared and I insisted on getting on. Ony problem was that it was going the wrong way! The Barton driver flagged down a Trent bs going the other way and a quick change to a Derby bound bus was made.

Celebrating 30 years of Bristol REs, Bristol Festival of Transport, 199?, here's 8 of them !

That looks awfully familiar. I think I was there in 1991 so maybe then?

This is RF 530, my own bus for seven years.

post-10377-0-95249300-1495210353_thumb.jpg

I used to especially enjoy taking her to the North Weald Rally because soon after coming through the Dartford Tunnel I could pick up the old 250 route to Epping.

RF530 worked the 250 for a while and I have a photo taken in the 1960's of the bus at this very bus stop, the Bull at Theydon Bois.

I miss the bus terribly, but she's still around - and last I heard had a class 6 ticket as well.

I can't remember but weather was poor and was still being held at former Whitchurch aerodrome, now Hengrove bus depot is nearby!

As a newly licensed motorcyclist, I remember getting rained on a lot in 1991, although my abiding memory of Whitchurch Aerodrome is of a biting and icy wind sweeping across broken concrete :D.

Ignore this post. Just a "thank you" to contributors and a kind of personal "placeholder" so the thread shows up in My Content.

My name's Pete and I have a problem. I quite like buses...

Since the weekend, I think it was used at last weekends Chippenham bus rally.

If that is the one I think it is, someone fitted the horn from a Class 40 to it.  Earplugs at the ready ...

Aah, I have seen a video of it somewhere, didn't realise it was the same bus!

The two pics posted earlier were the only two decent shots I got of East Kent buses at work. It was over 40 years later before I got another chance to photograph them, obviously by now in preservation. Regent Vs at the Herne Bay - 9 August 2015.
