RMweb Gold gwrrob Posted June 5, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 5, 2017 Made the character of Wallace a masterpiece in Nick Park's creation and whoever cast him deserves great credit too.A great age though.

tamperman36
another great loss, loved watching Last of the summer wine when it was Compo, Clegg & Foggy, and latterly he did a cracking job as the voice of Wallace in Wallace and Gromit. Will be missed by many RIP

RMweb Gold Re6/6 Posted June 5, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 5, 2017 A lovely chap. He once said that his high spot was to attend the Oscars on behalf of 'Wallace' Rest in peace 'Cleggy' A man of many parts over the years. He was in a very early black and white edition of 'The Avengers' tonight.
RMweb Premium Ian J. Posted June 5, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 5, 2017 96 is a pretty good age to reach. RIP, hope the cheese is good wherever you are, and the baths forever run down the hills...
Mike at C&M
Cleggy, re-united with Compo, Norah and Foggy. A match made in heaven. R.I.P. and thank you for providing so many wonderful comic moments both as Norman Clegg, and the wonderful Wallace.

trisonic
96.... Not bad for a Londoner. I get the feeling (from the Obits) that he never cared much for “Last of the Summer Wine” - or maybe just got bored of it (like me). Best, Pete.
RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted June 6, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 6, 2017 Apparently Nick Park had him, and no one else, in mind for Wallace right from the start. Brilliant actor in a way many of us would hardly realise as he was the London born son of a bank manager yet he got those northern tones so cleverly - sorry to see you go Cleggy/Wallace but you had a good innings lad.

Guy A few days ago they showed the episode of The Persuaders he was in, playing a very seedy villain. RIP Peter.
