RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted October 31, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted October 31, 2023 An ultra low-relief model of a cottage in Fowey, made for a client. I had this on show on Sunday, and a couple of gents from Fowey actually recognised it. 4
RMweb Gold Mikkel Posted October 31, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 31, 2023 (edited) That's great modelling, and also an interesting concept with the frame around it. Is there a new market there for you maybe, i.e. the Cornish tourist sector? Or would the investment of time be too high for such a market. That's exactly the idea, a new market catering to either wealthy house holders, or businesses. A secondary market is indeed the tourists, with models of certain Cornish buildings, such as Doc Martin's cottage. It's something I'm keen to develop over the next few months ( ie before Christmas, and then in time for Spring). 3
RMweb Gold Mikkel Posted October 31, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 31, 2023 That's exciting Stu. I would pay for that. I'd also need a box if I was a tourist, but that shouldn't be too difficult.

RMweb Gold Mikkel Posted April 21 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 21 Best looking worst looking structure I've seen for a while. It's thought-provoking to compare it with your earlier build of the same house. I assume it's for someone who has restored the house, what a nice idea. 1

It was alongside a horse tramway, in Derbyshire, and the client sent me as many old photos as he could find. Some were as the house was in use, and some in it's derelict state. When I asked him which version he wanted, he said both. Edited April 21 by Stubby47 8 2

I just started making the first stones, then worked out the promotional dimensions of the wall The doorway is 100mm, so approximating that to 8ft, gives (I think!) 1:12.5 scale. Which as you state, is Dolls House scale.

RMweb Gold Mikkel Posted Friday at 05:22 RMweb Gold Share Posted Friday at 05:22 (edited) Wow. One of your best yet in my opinion. It's always difficult to model something that people don't intuitively expect, such as brick and stone mixed like that. It could easily have come out looking odd, but it doesn't. I also like the colours very much. Comparing with the prototype, it looks like the door colour is a personal touch? RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted Friday at 15:33 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted Friday at 15:33 Thanks Mikkel, I have to say I am surprised how well the brick & stone colours have come out The door colour is more a failure to find/mix the correct shade..
