Bargain Hunters Mark 2

Recommended Posts

Some may not agree but I think this is fantastic value - locos and stock included with this very high quality (if a little tired in places) exhibition layout.

I agree, even allowing for the predominance of Lima locos, it looks great value...

It's not a bargain yet - that's the starting bid.

If it sells for the starting bid of £1300, then it is very good value - but I expect it to go for more.

Especially as it includes 21 locals

and all points are moved by tortuous motors

Spotted this earlier in the week and kept an eye on it as Reighton was always one of my favourite layouts. Its ideal for someone wanting an EM layout more or less ready to go to a show, albeit with room for some polishing round the edges. Whether there's anyone in that category out there is a different matter though and even though it does look good value, it may struggle to find a buyer at that price.

Sadly its one of those where the sum of the parts is probably worth more than the price anyone is prepared to pay for the whole and selling bit by bit would open up a wider market. Hopefully it's going to stay in one lot, would be good to see it out on the show circuit more regularly or maybe Steve Flint would like to buy it for permanent display at Pecorama!

Thanks for the heads up

Was going to order one of these when they had £50 off

So just ordered mine

Makes you think on how much the mark up is?

Or they may of had an insurance payout

Still a great bargain

Or they have sold enough of the order to have covered, or almost covered, the cost of them so can flog them off cheap whilst still making money.

Isn't a Bachmann Limited Edition 500+ so they could have sold c 490 of each

Still £1000 for ten and I know of four others that have purchased plus me.

So now that’s £1500 out of the profits for a small shop.

Think it’s time to get back to BARGAINS before we all fall out and the page gets shut down.

Sawyers are giving 10% off everything this bank holiday weekend.

Details here http://sawyermodels.co.uk/?page_id=12946

Thank you for this. Just bought the Bachmann LMS Sound Jinty for £164 and free postage. I've been thinking about this model since it was released and this pushed me over the edge.

Have a great bank holiday.

All the best

2 books discounted in the LTM sale (until 10/9):

I tried to run a railway

https://www.ltmuseumshop.co.uk/books/trains/tried-to-run-a-railway-book

Fiennes' book is available in hardback for less than half the LTM's sale price from Books etc via Amazon.  I realise the LTM is a 'good cause' but you could buy the book from Books etc, donate £10 to the museum and still have change...
