Very nice. The Terrier is definitely a very handsome loco... for a Southerner xD

£110... hmm.

I think I will still do a couple of A1 versions, but maybe not the full range that I was planning. That way I can improve the accuracy of my existing ones without breaking the bank and replacing them with all-new ones. I can probably manage one new one when it comes, but no more.

I look forward to it, whatever you do. Sure you'll produce something quite special.

Hence why I continue to look for K's ones at prices I can afford. Hopefully those will now come down in price following this announcement. As I say, it would be nice to have one, but it is unlikely to happen, hence why I may still continue with the 3D project.

I still say there is a niche for you there.  For instance, the West Norfolk had a second-hand Terrier.  It will be produced using a Hornby/Dapol model, but the body requires a lot of work to try to get it to an A1.

I cannot afford £110 just to use it to create a West Norfolk version.  As it is, I think I will hang fire of the Rails/Dapol release for a loco in Brighton service until the periods I am interested in get covered.

£110 is a reasonable price these days, but one at which I get picky!

Or do what I do and build one from parts from eBay job lots. Got a Triang Jinty in working condition (the one who acted as donor for my No.4's chassis) along with another working Nellie and a motor-less Hornby Class D for £11 total.

Seconded - the old chassis is still pretty good, so a nicer detailed body in the sub-£20 region would be great. If buying a second hand donor chassis you'd be looking at less than half the price of the new one, even assuming the old ones don't lose their value (here's hoping they do...).

Maybe I could finally make my model of SECR 751 have the correct boiler! At the moment it just has the smokebox front modified.

K's kits might have had their faults, but at least they enabled those of slender means to build reasonable models.  There doesn't seem to be much on offer like that these days.

Well, I will now attempt to shock you all! I have done some actual modelling!

However, first, some G6 Pictures. Now, I know that my 4mm one is now destined to become an O2, following on from a series of design flaws, but the 3mm one is actually being made into a G6 as I speak and may well be appearing in the 3mm Society's magazine! I am quite pleased with the quality, considering that it's a WSF print. It's certainly much better than the ABS Print.

Now, some actual modelling! I have a 3ft x 4ft setrack-based roundy-roundy sat beside me here, and it is a bit of a sorry sight. Now, in order for it to basically become a test-track/photo plank for most things I have, I am converting it to a fairly generic and loose light-railway. Part of this has been making the sidings overgrown, and the results aren't the best but do the job. I've spent the afternoon neatening the job up somewhat.

The shots show it in 'Generic' mode, Pre-Grouping mode, and 1950's Welsh Colliery mode, with a gratuitous shot of my user-namesake.

First up, my Wills 'P'. Upon buying this (At just over half the price of a Hattons one) I had intended to put it into fully lined-out SECR Wainwright green, but I couldn't bring myself to do it! The beautifully hand painted and hand lined paint job was far too nice to destroy, so I've left it and now have an excuse to get a Hattons one at some stage!

Back to Wales: an ex-TVR U1 in NCB service (I will be ditching the GW fittings and backdating it to lined TVR Black) with its ex-GWR replacement in the form of a 5600 behind.

I like your roundy-roundy photo plank Sem.  Having it in a light railway style is a good idea too and then it can fit a wider range of eras and places according to your mood.

I'll be very interested to see how the G6 O2 turns out as the 3D print looks quite good as far as I can see from the photos

Quite simply, I designed it badly! I forgot that the rear wheels need to go somewhere.

Now, the RTR Chassis I had for the 4mm would not fit, due to another design flaw, so I decided it would be easier to create an O2 instead. The 3mm one is, however, being worked on in conjunction with its 3D printed chassis, and a very small motor. The builder is much more skilled than I...

I really don't know what's come over me in the past 24 hours - I've been doing yet more actual modelling, and even some CAD!

I got my E5 Painted!

Photos later... maybe this evening, we'll see.
