Looking much better.

Here is a picture I took about 10yrs ago of the canal at Cropedy.

I reckon about half that need on your one and don't forget this would all be cut with scythes (if at all) so would be uneven.

PS

I was standing on a bridge before some bright spark reckons I was walking on water!!!!!

the aerial shots made it look uniform so I’ve tried to take a photo to show just how ‘messy’ it really is

I’ve used as many different materials I had to hand

Wow, you're a right messy lad Chris. Welcome to the messy boy's room. That's looking really good 👍

And there it was........green.

Adding the static grass really brings a layout to life.

Top job, Chris.

I think I might have overdone the static grass 😫

I’ll take a photo tomorrow evening but if it doesn’t pass muster I’ll get the beard trimmer on charge 🙄

Maybe the clumpy, rough,  none standy-uppy will look better once dry

Hi Chris,

Perhaps I'm the wrong one to comment, given my predilection with unkempt, overgrown, all consuming,  hippy grass but.............

If your fibres won't sit erect on first application, get the hoover out, before they realise what's happening.  Holding the nozzle about an inch above will generally get things standing to attention. No closer though as the nozzle can get drawn down and you end up with crop circles.

I know this..............

The light/white patches are touch ups I’ve done this evening

Looks good so far, don't forget to get that edge of the path next to the embankment unkept and not razor straight.

Looks like a rough unkempt grass embankment to me. I didn’t even notice the neat edge to the towpath until @57xxpointed it out.

I still need to add the bushes and weeds along the towpath to soften the edge the same as I did on the left hand side…

I won’t do that until the static grass adhesive has fully cured and I’ve addressed the odd bald patch

Made a start on the embankment, base layer of 2mm static grass added

I’ll build up the layers over the coming  evenings I generally use four different colours in three different lengths

Got a little glue on the towpath unfortunately but it might be okay, if not I’m sure I can sort it out.

I’m still not sure how to weather the towpath but I am considering making a few potholes and filling with resin as puddles…..maybe

For another alternative method on scenery check out Nightshift Modeler...

He primes all his scenery including grass in black primer for shadows and the paints all the details back in

that’s looking great & KNPs words spot on.
I’m liking both colour & texture variation & also that some bank sections have overhanging foliage & others do not - seems right to me
