You can't beat it for the abundance of reference material around. It can be very frustrating when trying to scratch build an entire structure from one low resolution, black and white photograph. 4

RMweb Gold Rowsley17D Posted May 26, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 26, 2021 My weakness for NG is in the Leek & Manifold having been brought up not 5 miles from Hulme End. I've even adapted and built the Meridian kit of one of the 2-6-4Ts and have a baseboard with a basic Hulme End station track plan laid out. 2 1
RMweb Gold Alister_G Posted May 26, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 26, 2021 There you go Chris, once you've knocked off Warren, you can have a go at a local line to you, the good old Leaky Manifold. Al. 2 1
MrWolf
Or the Ashover Light Railway, with its ex WD Baldwin 2-6-2's and impressively ramshackle operations? Damn, now I've given away my dirty narrow gauge secret... 4 1
RMweb Gold chuffinghell Posted May 26, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 26, 2021 I’ve always had a liking of narrow gauge, particularly Welsh narrow gauge Originally Warren was going to be narrow gauge, I built some locos from 3D printed bodies and all the locos had rabbit related names Lola Peter Jessica Thumper Cwningen 8
RMweb Gold Rowsley17D Posted May 26, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 26, 2021 Here you go. My take on a L&M loco with Backwoodsman L&B chassis. This has since been rebuilt with an N gauge 08 chassis and RT Models valve gear and needless to say goes much better. 2

I've lost count of the number of times I have been to or through Devil's Bridge and not had the time to travel on the railway. It was interesting during the BR blue days as an irrepressible anachronism. Now that it has been backdated to Great Western livery, it looks really impressive. I think that we will have to pay a planned visit before long. All the buildings have been painted in GWR colours too

MrWolf
My photos this weekend are a little fuzzy too. Mostly due to the amount of rain between lens and subject! Oscar was obviously doing dog things to figure out his position in the dog hierarchy of an unfamiliar place. At least he looks like a happy dog. You know where you are with a dog who looks like he's laughing about something.

I used to get old packing timbers for firewood. They were 4" X 2" by about three feet long. My dog liked trimming them down to an easier to throw 18". He was 8 or 9 months old there and still growing into his feet.

sb67
Love the VoR photo's Chris, looks like you had a great day. Can we look forward to some new layout plans after that? I know whenever I go anywhere like that I always come away with an idea or three! Never get built though! 2

For some strange reason last year, I spent six months away from the layout with home improvements. Hoping that doesn't happen this year, but I know what I'm like so I'd better stop looking at O gauge layouts.
Fishplate
Hi Chris, I've been away doing other stuff for several months. I have had a pleasant time catching up on Warren Branch and particularly the Goods Shed build. Great stuff. Love the finished article. Looking forward to following your progress again on a more regular basis. Best regards John

RMweb Gold Popular Post chuffinghell Posted June 7, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted June 7, 2021 (edited) I’ve spent the last week getting to grips with some new equipment I finally decided to bite the bullet and get a 3D printer It’s only a baby one so it won’t do large items but for small scratch building aids it’s perfect It’s proving to be quite a steep learning curve but I’ve finally managed to produce something useable The weighbridge/yard office I’m not going to cheat entirely as I’ll use Peco roofing and guttering left over from the station building I am no where near close to printing anything more elaborate as I’ve still a lot to learn Edited June 7, 2021 by chuffinghell 19 3

Will do, I’m still getting to grips with it as there are many settings to play with. there are loads of ‘how to’ videos on the t’interweb but as always most contradict each other so it’s very much trial and error at the moment
