pwr
It'll be waiting a long time if Lazy Joe has been assigned to the job! You might want to add some static grass to represent weeds growing up through the underframe if he takes too long about it! Paul R 1

Popular Post Andrew P
It's been an agonising week. Up in the loft and trying to make a start. The Builder was coming on Saturday to give an estimate on the cost of fitting the Stairs and boarding out the roof. I also had the kind offer of Ian / @Temeraire to come down and help me, but I have decided to call a halt to it. I have now cancelled the Chippy, and all further work up there. I've had a couple of bad turns with all the bending and trying to sort things out I kept getting dizzy spels. The mere thought of building the Layout frames at such a low height under the roof angle was beginning to hit me. I feel 25 in my mind, 35 in my body, but when I start trying to do jobs like this, the 70+ heart gave me a couple of sever warnings yesterday to STOP NOW. So I have, It is a shame, but at least I've had a go, I will just have to be content with running Seven Mills as it is, and be at least grateful that I have this and The Budoc Bridge Branch in 4mm. There is no point in making myself ill trying to achieve something that will be a job to far. If anybody can make use of 20M of LED light or the Stairs that were delivered yesterday please let me know. The Stairs are flat packed and very heavy, The box is about 300mm sq and 3.3M long. The Stairs are still un opened.
pwr
Andy I think you made a wise decision. I know its disappointing but your health is more important. I sometimes wonder if I would be better off with a much smaller layout - say three boards, Notley is heavy and I can only get it up in the garden. I have ordered some of those White Rose trestles in order to make erection easier. Fold down legs are Ok but there is far too much faffing about with bolts etc. Three boards say 15ft long would allow me to get a layout up in the lounge for an operating session and still be relatively interesting. I am going to persevere for now as I may be having more time on my hands as I have been told today my job is at risk so I may be bringing retirement forward. Just got to convince the wife! Paul R I was made redundant at 60, and panicked for a few days, then when my WONDERFUL WIFE worked out my Pension etc, she said; IF we're carful we might be able to manage with me retiring early. Best thing I ever did, and I thank ARLA Foods / Milk for making me redundant. As you probably know Seven Mills is only 15ft long now with the door fiddle yard in place, but I was running it yesterday without it, and can still get lots of Loco movements in the 11ft, if not that many Wagon shunts of more that one or two Wagons at a time. I have learnt that size is not everything, despite what many women say. Edited November 5, 2020 by Andrew P 6 2
RMweb Gold DaveF Posted November 5, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 5, 2020 Andy, I think you made the right decision. Three years ago (aged 68) I sold all my 00 collection which had been on a layout in the loft. I realised that getting up there was becoming harder, so dismantled it before I could no longer manage. I now have a small 0 gauge layout and a Swiss n gauge layout in my spare room, I am much happier for it and am enjoying my hobby again. The spare room was my office for about eight years when I worked from home, I still use the computer bench from then for my PC . David 3 1

When I was at Gaugemaster a few weeks back I was looking at the Swiss and Austrian stuff, that brought back some memories.
