I was at Frome Railway Station yesterday, for anyone who doesn’t know Frome Station it has a grand GWR Trainshed, but also a disused platform (hence my interest).  How we perceive certain aspects of model railway is more of an individual taste.  Most disused platforms and trackbeds are covered in about 3feet of weeds.  On my layout I didn’t want that extent as I wanted to see the details on the floor with the old sleepers and track chairs that remain on site.   The other issue I that I would say that scenery is not my strongest point when it comes to model railways.  I was very pleased to see that Frome wasn’t too overgrown and has made me a lot happier with what I have done.

I think you've captured the " used to be a rather grand " station very well .

Om not sure if someone does decent OO bikes but a cafe is prime target for cycling groups

Thank you for the comments

You are spot on about the bikes, need to look for some next time I’m at the model shop.

I have been having a look to see how the next bit of foreground will look.  This is a mock up of where the Scouts building will go.  I think it looks about right, but I don’t know how far I will get with it as shortly I will be getting Melangoose ready for its trip to the NEC at the end of next month.

Doing a bit of work to the road, which is the country end scenic break.  I want some Road markings, but I would like them to look as though they had been there sometime (and a little worn).

That grey building with the big windows is amazing! Are there any close-ups and/or construction pics on here?

The building that you refer to was originally built by Steve Adcock for his layout Russell Bridge, which was 32ft long and a regular on the Exhibition circuit in the 1990’s.  I owned the layout for 20 years and had it up in my loft.  We had some roofing work done a few years back and lost the use of the loft, but gained a Hobbyroom.  So I built Wyvern Road repurposed a majority of the buildings from the old layout.

An old picture taken some years ago on RB when running Western Region stock.

A little project for the Xmas period was to partially repaint my Metals Sector BAA’s so they matched my Cavalex BLA Coil wagons.  Just have to TCut out the sector markings and a couple of Railfreight logos on the BLA’s, then they will be of for Weathering.

Hi

That last picture is very realistic.....

Just a heat shimmer above the exhaust would add to the realism.....

Cheers Bill
