A great layout, irrespective of whatever stock you chose to run, but I must say I am thoroughly enjoying the current retro look back to when trains appeared rather more like I remember them!  😃

Thank you for sharing - happy New Year!

All the best ,

NSE’s Thames pool must be short of locos as a Speedlink loco is substituting for todays Hereford Paddington

Hi Nigel, layout is looking great. Loving the 90s vibe. Can't beat a bit if DCWA class 50 action. A nice selection of 37s too

Cheers Peter.

Hi Peter,  Thanks for the post.  I love my sector Class 37’s and the Large Logo on the mk2’s completes the trio.  The 50 on the PW is typical of the once a week from Bristol East to Bescot.  Really enjoying running my heritage collection.  Hope all is well with you in Australia.

Regards Nigel

'Heritage collection'!???🤣 Yikes! We are so blessed with footage of the period via DVDs and the Internet that it still feels (to me) contemporary, even though I know it's for the most part, long gone. 🙂 No matter - great modelling is great modelling, irrespective of period and I enjoy it all, contemporary or 'heritage'! Long may it continue

I know what you mean about time passing and stuff feeling contemporary and not realising that time has passed by.  I was kind of shocked browsing through Rail Express, with DB retiring the Class 60 (such a modern freight loco I thought).  Then I realised that it was introduced in 1989, so they are coming up to 35 years old (where has the time gone).   Anyway Grampus Heritage, Contemporary or Modern, enjoy your modelling.

Metals sub sector traffic is a key flow through Wyvern Road.  With loaded traffic in both direction from manufacturing in Llanwern and Port Talbot to the finishing mill at Shotton at Deeside and for distribution in the West Midlands.

A traffic flow that doesn’t exist on the railway in 2024 is the movement of Household Coal.  Back in 1990, Wyvern Road had its fare share with two very different types of train.

56106 in the old Red Stripe Railfreight livery heads a rake of HEA empties from Warrington towards South Wales.

This train is the longest of my 1990’s collection with x24 wagons.

The other flow is Household Coal for Export to Ireland.  37796 heads a lengthy rake towards Ellesmere Port on Merseyside.

All good here mate, not the best summer we have ever had but it's been warm this week. I remember seeing the DCWA 50s about I got a few pics of some round Exeter. Then some ended up in the NSE pool when the reliability of the other 50s got really bad.

Cheers Peter.

Great pictures again, thank you. My personal favourite is Hoover 031 on ballast. Really captures the scene at the time. 🙂

Thank you.  50031 Hood is one of my favourite Class 50’s.  Used to love seeing it between Oxford and Paddington in the mid 1980’s (fond memories).  But on WR it lives on as part of the DCWA pool.

@Melangoose our paths may well have crossed on those 80’s Oxford- Pads. Regular runs FCFW to Reading, couple of hours spotting then some Thumper thrash down to Basingstoke for a couple of hours and then back to Reading for another couple of hours. The best of days.

Hood looks stunning in your pics. Very nice 👌
