All that's on offer seems to be sets of 20 or 24, which is going to leave a lot of unwanted pens. Can you remember from where you got yours? I have thought about a Rotring type ink pen but they are hellishly expensive and I'm not sure if the ink would take on enamel or acrylic paint. Hi Ian, I've been looking too, and as you say it seems difficult to find the extra-fine tip ones, or any sold as a singleton. One of the few I've found is this on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Marker-marker-Posca-ultra-fine-white/dp/B00U16WOWK From a French supplier. Hope that helps, Al.

RMweb Gold Alister_G Posted April 5, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 5, 2019 (edited) I've been gardening. Well not really, but I've definitely been planting things. I took a kitchen pan scrubber, and ripped it to shreds. This wasn't some anger management technique, but instead the start of some shrubbery. As it comes, it's a weird artificial green, so I sprayed it with some Humbrol no.30 Dark Green: This shows the difference: Then, I used some of this: and some of this: and ended up with this: I then added some purple flowers, and planted it: Emboldened by how that looked, I started adding some more purple stuff around the layout: I've not gone over the top with it, but it just adds another dimension. Anyway, having done that, I couldn't resist a bit of playing trains! Thanks for looking, Al. Edited April 5, 2019 by Alister_G 12

RMweb Gold Alister_G Posted April 5, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 5, 2019 And here's the proof! This is my 500th published photo of the layout Which probably means I've actually taken twice that... And one more... Signaller69
Lovely weathering of everything Al, especially on those vans, it really does add so much realism to the whole picture. Cheers, Martyn.

Yep, absolutely! I've got all the photos of all my layouts stored on at least three different devices, which back up any new ones every night. There's a lot of good reference material in there! RMweb Gold Alister_G Posted April 6, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 6, 2019 Sadly, I have to report a bit of a problem with Ladmanlow. The smooth operation of shunting duties has been disrupted by some unwelcome visitors. As you can see, they seem to feel they have prior rights over the running lines... There's only one thing for it; the C&HPR have had to invest in some of this: So I've been digging post holes, and installing a new fence. The fun bit is going to be threading the wires through all the posts. A job for later, I feel. Thanks for looking, Al. 13
RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted April 6, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 6, 2019 On Shepherds, I used a pair of eyebrow tweezers, which have an LED light between the two tines. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00CZ25FWY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_1ZjQCbW108BQ7
RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted April 6, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 6, 2019 I also found it was far easier to thread the posts first, then glue them into the holes...

Doh! Ah well, if there's a difficult way and an easy way, guess which one muggins here invariably uses. Thanks for the tip about the tweezers, they look worthwile for all sorts of fiddly jobs. Al. RMweb Gold Alister_G Posted April 6, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 6, 2019 (edited) I found this great bit of colour film of the Cromford and High Peak Railway. It's not very long, but there's a wealth of detail to pick out. Sadly now removed from YouTube. Al. Edited April 10, 2019 by Alister_G 2

RMweb Premium Sasquatch Posted April 10, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 10, 2019 Hi Al. Had great catch up on my lunch. On Dunster I drilled out dozens of match sticks and glued them into holes. Fine Beading wire was used and threaded very easily through before a run of super glue was added. Did someone mention brambles. Try lightly spraying some lichen with bauxite primer and adding dark and light green foliage with spray glue. Mrs. S. used rubberized horse hair but it's very hard to find nowadays. Layout's coming along just grand. Regards Shaun.
