Only the improved quality of the image gives away that this isn't a photograph of the real thing from sixty years ago. Really impressive modelmaking. 1

I've been building a grampus for about 15 years! It annoys me every time I look at the jobs list :) 2

westerner
Nice one Emporia ( sorry I don't know your name as your post isn't signed) I nearly did that version but the photo was meant to have been taken in the 60's so I stuck with a far less sepiaed photo. However back to the Grampus. Having totally messed up folding the step etch for the end of the wagon I decided I could make a couple from my store of different sizez of Evergreen angle strip. the result was this Being satisfied I then removed the wheels and primed the wagon ready for painting Edited August 6, 2023 by westerner

RMweb Gold GWR57xx Posted September 13, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 13, 2023 Superb weathering. Definitely should be on the “How realistic” thread. 6
Popular Post westerner
And now the other ballast wagon that I suspect many of you will havw forgotten about, it has been over 8 months, the ex GWR 10 ton ballast wagon a P18 partly scratch built. 29
Popular Post westerner
Both sides now weathered so I will call it finished. The first side has had a little reworking from previous photo. Spot the difference. 22

Popular Post westerner
Slightly reworked mineral wagon and you can see both sides. Th colour photos I've seen seems to imply the coal dust appearing to stick to the rust. There is a new load of coal for the wood'un alongside, Oddly household coal for the Forest was imported from the Staffordshire collieries I understand. 25
Popular Post westerner
Been playing around with giving the fiddleyard a backscene for some more photo ops as well shots from the main layout through the tarmway bridge of arriving or departing trains. Cropped and under the tramway. 26

westerner
As Graig has said an article has been published in the 0 gauge Gazette in the form of a 1960s photo album ie all the photos in B&W with long (hopefully ) informative captions. I am pleased with the result.

Andrew Young
Got home from a few days away and found the latest Gazette waiting for me. Love the Ben Ashworth style article, superb stuff and nicely different! Just a shame the photo of you and the track plan weren’t monochrome too for the full effect. Popular Post westerner
Thank you very much to all those who enjoyed the article in the 0 Gauge Gazette. Taking a leaf out of our good shepard Rob's book, I spent the morning clearing and tiding The Room. I discovered I had enough material left from the original backscene that i have decided to go the whole hog and make the fiddleyard a sort of diorama. Luckily on taking some of the not needed stuff into the garage I had enough hardboard from the initial backcene that i could do something similar for the fiddleyard, and also enough bits of ply to construct the sub- bases for the removable scenery. Some photos Fiddleyard as is with sub-bases And I couln't resist
westerner
Work progresses on the backboards for the backscene. The back panel in place. Note the spacers to allow sector plate to swing and a small amount of 3D scenery. Started on the end board sapacers being glued onto panel.
