RMweb Premium melmerby Posted October 3, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 3, 2023 (edited) I've just heard Jacob Rees Mogg has been appointed secretary for "Finding an alternative to HS2". He is to trial a revolutionary new mode of Transport - Horse Buses.🙂 When asked about the inevitable pollution, he said that would be the responsibility of the Local Authorities through which it would operate. Manchester Metro Mayor Andy Burnham said that the Government is just talking a load of Horse Sh*t. 😄 Edited October 3, 2023 by melmerby

Our motorways are already extensively covered by ANPR cameras. many of our major cities have ANPR coverage and certainly do if they have a congestion charge or ULEZ. a lot of council car parks have ANPR cameras. that’s not full coverage but it’s easy to see how a time & distance charging scheme could be introduced. Rishi won’t do it though as he’s ‘on the side of the motorist’ 1

That’s in the independent anti-motorist state of Welsh Wales. Rishi doesn’t worry about transport policy in Welsh Wales and generally now seems just to do the opposite as he is “the friend of the (English) motorist” 1
Foulounoux
Who needs cameras the telemetry capability of most modern cars means we are tracked more than we think. There was a recent tv documentary where the criminal was convicted because his Mercedes A class telemetry data proved his car was in the area of the shooting at the time it took place thus confirming his prescence at the scene (with other evidence of course) So they know where you're driving 1

He knows he won't get elected if he tells everybody they've got to catch a bus to work. Especially the people who live in rural villages that are lucky if there's only one bus a week. RMweb Premium corneliuslundie Posted October 3, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 3, 2023 Yes plenty of those boxes on poles around here, and in places where a camera would be useless. It doesn't need those scare stories that the covid vaccine was really an implant so you could be tracked. Your phone is good enough for a start. I remember my daughter losing her mobile phone and simply looking on her computer to see where it was, and that was several years ago. That is why I rather laugh about all those statements about keeping your personal data safe. And anyway, Google knows not just where you are but what you are thinking about having for lunch. Back to HS2, interesting to see the Welsh First Minister saying that if phase 2 is cancelled Wales will be owed some extra money. That will go down well with our PM. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-politics-66922988 Jonathan
RMweb Premium melmerby Posted October 3, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 3, 2023 Just had some idiot from Stop HS2 on BBC Midlands today. Asked whether the section to Manchester should be scrapped and the obvious answer was Yes, but he also said the the London to Birmingham stretch should also be scrapped as there isn't a single bit of track laid after all this work! Talk about uneducated. What did he expect? rails across green fields? Michael Fabricant MP also was asked and he also agreed the Manchester leg should be scrapped as the current WCML could be upgraded for High Speed trains at a fraction of the cost. I despair at the lack of intelligence pervading the population. 1 8

woodenhead
Expected to announce a load more projects for the North to replace HS2 apparently - so more announcements that can then be broken in February 2025. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-66998692 Sorry mods, it was placed in the politics folder on the BBC, but it is pertinent to HS2 2
