In the winter it can take a bl**dy long time for the humidity to get down into the low 50% range - even after the washing is apparently dry enough to be redistributed to other parts of the estate. The amount of water the machine gets out of the atmosphere is staggering. Dave 6 1 1

We've got one in the utility room in the house but it's only small (and there's no room for a larger one) and is only used for finishing off washing that is nearly dry. The alternative, of course, is to have a larger one in the shed but in order to prevent the atmosphere becoming saturated in there I'd have to cut a hole in the wall for an exhaust pipe and that would end up turning the shed into a laundry room, which I most emphatically refuse to allow to happen. I also think that the amount of electricity used by a tumble dryer is greater than that of a dehumidifier, despite the latter having a much longer run time. Dave Just run it on air dry/fluff, that uses way less electricity (just the drum motor) but takes somewhat longer. But again, at way less than a quarter of the wattage. 1 2 3

RMweb Gold Happy Hippo Posted August 17, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted August 17, 2022 We appear to have had gentle rain for much of the night and it is still spotting outside as I write this. The grass is now looking visibly greener. Of course the down side will be the lawn will now insist on a trim in the next few days, something I have been able to avoid for the past five weeks or so. A morning in the workshop might be on the cards, as the demise of SWS's boards which previously were resident there mean I now have some space to swing both a cat and a lamp. 11

RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted August 17, 2022 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 17, 2022 I don't have cats in my garden, I have foxes. I keep them away from the house as much as I can and that seems to be working as they don't leave any messages except at the bottom of the garden.
