Does that mean Jill  will sit in the 'shed' waiting for the washing to dry?

In the winter it can take a bl**dy long time for the humidity to get down into the low 50% range - even after the washing is apparently dry enough to be redistributed to other parts of the estate. The amount of water the machine gets out of the atmosphere is staggering.

So what, dare I ask do you use to stir the cocktails with?

A swizzle stick or cocktail shaker! I avoid those silly complicated cocktails such as “sex on the beach“ or “corpse reviver”
Basically, my cocktail repertoire is limited to (out of choice) G&T, Negroni, a classic Manhattan, Cuba Libre and  the Singapore Sling….

We've got one in the utility room in the house but it's only small (and there's no room for a larger one) and is only used for finishing off washing that is nearly dry. The alternative, of course, is to have a larger one in the shed but in order to prevent the atmosphere becoming saturated in there I'd have to cut a hole in the wall for an exhaust pipe and that would end up turning the shed into a laundry room, which I most emphatically refuse to allow to happen. I also think that the amount of electricity used by a tumble dryer is greater than that of a dehumidifier, despite the latter having a much longer run time.

I'd add a Pina Colada (but not the poncy version with cream).

And as for sex on a beach, wouldn't you be in danger of spilling the cocktail?

Just run it on air dry/fluff, that uses way less electricity (just the drum motor) but takes somewhat longer. But again, at way less than a quarter of the wattage.

It looks like all the older trams are now out of service.

Not seen one in the last 2 weeks.

Is it Bear, or are modern trams a poor substitute for the "proper" ones?

A needle file.  The alcohol cleans the flux out of the file teeth.

We appear to have had gentle rain for much of the night and it is still spotting outside as I write this.

The grass is now looking visibly greener.

Of course the down side will be the lawn will now insist on a trim in the next few days, something I have been able to avoid for the past five weeks or so.

A morning in the workshop might be on the cards, as the demise of SWS's boards which previously were resident there mean I now have some space to swing both a cat and a lamp.

I did allow a tumble drier in the hanger but only when I'd put a vent hole through the wall and connected the pipe up.

One upside to the long hot dry spell is there are a lot less mosquitoes about.

Saving a fortune on insect repellant

Andy

Who will probably be chomped on all day now. They like foreign food you know
