I've spent the last few weeks trying to get back onto this thread. For some reason, it disappeared!

Talking of insurance, my household insurance is due for renewal at the end of this month and I received the renewal notice a couple of weeks ago. I got a shock because they'd hiked the premiums by 60%! I did no more than transfer my business to another company and I'm actually paying less for the same cover than previously. I don't know why they hiked it up but I can guess. In the postcode area there is the most expensive properties in Basildon, up to three quarters of a million each and they've just gone by the postcode.

Aberdeen is the Canadian Pacific yard in Hamilton.

Do I need to add that Hamilton is at the west end of Lake Ontario?

From my observations when I visited it is home to a community that provided the proof of the missing link between apes and sapiens, there were at least three examples clustered round a phone box.

Sometimes that happens by accidentally catching the ignore topic button.

There are times when that happens to me. As far as I am aware I don't have an ignore button fitted on my person.

had louvered windows, fitted by the bas*ard previous owner.  The wind blew in, the wind blew out....

Oh flashback time - my student flat in Liverpool had them, 1978 or so - spawn of the devil. The snow would blow through them.

I spent a few years as a small child living on what is now known to be a radon hotspot! With that and the strontium 90 about then I am surprised I don’t glow in  the dark!

Even when you ate Readybrek?

I particularly like that advert because it's set on a bleak, cheerless railway station in the BR Blue era...

The area around Dartmoor is a radon hotspot too.

Was it Not the Nine o'clock News that did the same ad for Windscale Flakes?

Well, despite having all my notifications on and not ignoring this thread, I still can’t get it to show on my followed list. I don’t know what’s going on there at all?
Even clicking on ‘content I’ve posted in’ doesn't show this one! Very strange indeed.
This post doesn’t even show up on my list of recent posts!

Hoorah, I’ve finally sorted it, it was just as Jamie had mentioned, I’d inadvertently pressed the ‘ignore this topic’ button doh!

When I was a (not so) young junior officer.

I was told by the CO, that my men would look to my leadership and would follow me into battle.

The RSM added that this would only be out of idle curiosity!

Not much has changed then. As we are all idle and curious about it.

Well what a productive day.

Seen my IFA, booked a physio appointment for Thursday and eyed up the attaching of shelves to the wall.

We've had the shelves for best part of 6 months.

I've been putting it off as it is a dry lined wall with an unknown deepness of cavity between plaster board and wall.

I'll need a spacer to stop the screws from pulling in and cracking the plasterboard. I'd like attach to the solid wall.

I've got as  far as marking up for the brackets today.

I've also heard "morbid curiosity" cited.
