Does anyone know what Caroline was doing?

Where it began I can't begin to know when. But then I know it's growin' strong. Was in the spring. And spring became the summer...

Sorry couldn't resist 😁

What a good job that Colas’ 37254 was floating around between Lewes and Haywards Heath on route learning today. Because DB’s 66056 was working train 6O13 Neasden Engineers Sdgs to Newhaven Marine Ag Tml Dbc, which then failed on Hamsey bank, with the rear wagon’s brake pipe causing the issue. It came to a stand on the down just south of Hamsey AHBC, with the rear wagons on the crossing.

37254 was sent to the rescue, propelling from the rear, reaching Lewes 214 minutes late. Apparently the 37 provided the air to the rear wagon.

Following 37254’s rescue of DB’s freight yesterday, it was back to normal route learning today.

Cooksbridge on the Down. Following this is it ran to Tonbridge via Rye and Ashford.

The way 66056 thundered  through three bridges I'm not surprised the brakes failed on these old JNA wagons

If anyone is interested there would appear to be 2 GBRf workings from Tonbridge to Newhaven this morning. Saw the first one go down, just waiting for the second.

The return workings from Railrecord are as follows….if they run of course.

There is also a DB working scheduled today. Which if it runs might be worth a look as it might just be one of the last DB workings to Newhaven, if the rumours of DB’s withdrawal from UK freight are to be believed.

On Thursday DB’s 66056 works the lunchtime train down to Newhaven, it is seen passing Cooksbridge on the Down. It is hauling the ratty old rake of JNAs that seem to turn regularly on this working.

Damn! I’d have gone and seen that had I known, was out too!

I try (but not always successfully) to check RTT a few days in advance to see if anything is coming through. This working was on the timetable for about a week or so. Just as a heads up, the north-bound Belmont Pullman is due through Pulborough on Wednesday evening at about 19:15.

These two shots were taken from the fenced path leading to a foot crossing about 50 yards further from the sidings. I had gone up there hoping to get snaps of both the Days siding 66 and the down East Quay empties. The latter had been shown as 11.18, but roared through just as I got there, so had been given a half hour earlier slot. So I was somewhat frustrated.

Same train - one shot through the fence and one over the top.

I believe the Pullman is doing Chichester (for Goodwood) today (Friday) and Satuday as well, the latter quite ironic as it will be the only train west of Barnham all day, everything else bar some daytime Arun Valley shuttles spinning at Barnham is shut (Long story!)
