My eldest granddaughter's favourite painting is van Gogh's Starry night. She painted me her version a year or two back.

Her cat, Finn, is jet black, so I found her this badge.

This morning, after putting on my new duvet cover, I find I have my own version.

Just in case you don't know the subsequent history of the buffer stop in the foreground, this happened 5 years after I took the cat photo......

https://en.mercopress.com/2012/03/02/buenos-aires-train-crashed-against-a-wall-because-station-bumpers-were-not-operational

In a strange, roundabout way, I ended up providing the photos I took of the buffers in 2007 to the Enquiry into the accident, just to prove the things weren't operational and hadn't been for some time!

Cats have several more "senses" than humans.

Food, Gravity, Food, Warmth, safe sleeping, Foood, Play, and the one so ably demonstrated here: -

The ability of being "Just out of reach" whilst still in the thick of things.

You left out a few "Food" inserts! At least according to my cat.

What a beautiful cat!!

OT: I would be interested in how those H10-44s perform as I have never owned a Walthers locomotive. I do have a much older O scale FM (might be an H12-44):

Cast bronze, weighs about 13 pounds, eight-wheel drive, and would pull the plumbing right out of the station. The drive:

Now back to cats; a previous cat, Tyger, acting as my track inspector:

Mia will often come and see me after having chowed down on fodder I've provided, in my mind a begrudging thank you. But she will have a bit of a fuss or rarely join me on the armchair... before sodding off to kip on a bed.

Thanks!  The newer Walthers locomotives run superbly, helical gear sets and five pole skewed motors.  The H10-44s run as nice as anything I own.

Thank you. Although I mainly model in O, I do have a bit of HO and one of those might just be in the works. FYI, Bowser has come out with a DS 4-4-1000 if you like Baldwins.

Mice are very crunchy. As I type,Teaser is under the dining room table making short work of a mouse. Very crunchy. I now need to go and clean up the gizzards. The rain has passed. Might be a five mouse night.

Same here, our cats must have a common ancestry!

Probably more to do with our feline friends seeing us fussing them as mutual grooming. "Why should I bother cleaning myself when the ooman will do it for me?"

But I'm a pessimist and it could be that Mia is actually genuinely grateful for being fed, and fussed! Although not a lapcat, she is actually one of the sweetest mogs I've ever known.

They always leave that little green bit that looks like a bean. Must taste bad.

Whilst I've loved all our cats I certainly wouldn't go as far as doing that, especially some of the places they clean! My tongue isn't up to it either!! 🤢🤣

There is a small dogwalking park Berczy Park in downtown Toronto wedged between Wellington, Scott and Front streets, it has this whimiscal water feature/fountain at the middle;

IMG_7195.JPG.f00d8e471554e634a71def82f5fb3f24.JPG

It has 4 concentric rings of doggy statues regurgitating water up to the next level.

It's a hit with the kids. All doggies (mainly Pugs and Terriers I think) except for, at the outer edge - a lone cat.

In typical feline fashion he is disinterested and looking away from the canine mayhem behind him. His ears are worn smooth as no passing and self-respecting child can resist giving him a pet;

I think the sculptor may have been a cat person and had the last laugh with this figure perched on a utilities cabinet at one corner of the park:

I see that the idiots (other worse words are in my mind) in charge have put those little bumps so that one cannot sit down and enjoy the fountain; much less cuddle the lonely cat.

The 'idiots in charge' have been obliged, at public expense, to install those bumps in order to prevent the real idiots from endangering themselves and the passing public by trying to jump on and off the parapet wall, on skateboards. In many cases, this practice has caused physical damage to the walls, etc.

Nothing to do with preventing sitting - unless one is extremely obese, one can still sit between the 'bumps'.

The 'bumps' have now become a worldwide phenomenon, such is the lack of common sense and consideration of the skateboarding community.
