Aston On Clun. A forgotten Great Western outpost.

Good point, I will be adding colour to the subsequent layers. I will probably mix quantities of cheap raw umber acrylic paint with the water. It will act as a further binding agent.

Thanks to @Captain Kernows informative contribution, tonight's waiting for the paint to dry job has been to put together a privy for the signal box. It's from the Wills' SS19 Grotty huts and privy kit.

Of course I couldn't leave it as bought. I drilled / carved out the little window in the door and as the roof is as thick as a whale omelette, I replaced it with a bit of clear glazing.

Of course, if you're going to paint the inside, you have to leave the door open.

If you leave the door open, you have to add the ledge and brace to the inside.

The hinges are on the right from the inside, so the brace runs from the top of the closing side, to the bottom of the hinge side.

If the door is to be open, you might need to add horizontal beams for the main wall planks, as well as some 'reading' material.

Then you might consider the planks are too thick, so replace the walls with individual planks of 10thou plasticard, stuck to a suitable frame, and replace the door with a similar scratch built item.

I'll shut up now...

Oh dear Rob, I forgot to warn you about mentioning conveniences in Stu's presence, he does get... umm... rather enthusiastic about them.

Oh and don't mention caravans, either...

He's gone potty over potties?

Bizarre.

BTW that looks like the bookie's khazi that Ewan McGregor fell into in Trainspotting. THE WORST TOILET IN SCOTLAND!

Also, I just can't quite express how much I dislike caravans. Although I have had the pleasure of burning a few.

I like that, you could add police tape and a CSI van. Another meth lab gone!

I'm sure that I read an article on building that model somewhere?

A few spare minutes this morning has allowed me to weather the whitewash inside the privy, slap on a cost of patented creosote base colour and paint the door dark stone.

Best of all worlds perhaps.

A clear roof so that the signalman can do some star-gazing while he contemplates the next movement?

I'm still thinking "Train or bowel movement?"

Anyway, I have now dealt with what has already become known as the "Sh**house sunroof"...

I wanted to paint the rust staining on the inside of the roof before fitting a cross brace under the front edge.

I have a lot of work to do now in order to tone everything down.

I know that some might suggest that I put a roll of Izal in there, but experience of such places is that you would hide your toilet paper in the signal box so that it didn't go walkabout.

Sounds as though you may have benefited from one of my more eclectic books......

Obviously the ones I want to buy aren't in such demand :O

In my experience, books are only cheap when you want to sell them.

That said, some of the books I value most have been given to me.
