RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted June 12, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 12, 2010 I do hope these are going to be a success for Dapol but the level of disinterest on here so far is a bit worrying (or are all the 'contemporary scene-ish' modellers at DEMU perhaps?). Maybe Dapol would be better advised to have look at wagons for the late 1950s/'60s period or are they worried about tripping over Bachmann in that area? I'm sure a few folk on here could come up with some ideas for them
cromptonnut
There will indeed be a lot of people excited by today's releases actually at the show so won't be posting here till quite a lot later - but perhaps the overhead masts are quite specialist and only of use to a fraction of modellers - although I guess the Woodhead style masts may well appeal to modellers awaiting the "76" that aren't actually modelling anything with 'knitting' at present? As I said, personally there's nothing of interest to my modelling interests (quite apart from the fact I'm currently working/planning in O gauge) but any new releases have to be a good sign that the market is still there. If DapolDave happens to announce at some point O gauge TMV milk wagons then I will indeed be a happy bunny ... particularly as they had a similar chromed finish to the "silver bullet" tankers ... but I guess the chances of that are actually fairly low even in an ideal world! RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted June 12, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 12, 2010 Lack of interest, give us a chance Selling them as a set is also a really good idea. Splendid news and at least these are far enough away to save up the pennies! Saw the jna announcement and worried that the weathered ones may be snaffled up before I get the chance, paid for the holiday yesterday so may have to loan myself from the savings. Was tempting to Tongue in cheek rant about short notice releases being a disgrace
gribble
I do hope these are going to be a success for Dapol but the level of disinterest on here so far is a bit worrying (or are all the 'contemporary scene-ish' modellers at DEMU perhaps?). If todays announcements equal the Silver Bullets in terms of quality of workmanship and overall attention to detail then it will be hard to say no to any of them. I am still coming to terms with what this means for my bank balance. The old cliche about this being an expensive hobby has never rung so true. Time for some governmentlike fiscal responsibility drive, but where to wield the axe? I genuinely feel spoilt for choice. Hats off to Dapol. *Gribble*
Pixie
Although I know DapolDave won't get this for a day or two, is there any chance of un-rebodying the Turbot to give the world a decent Bogie Bolster E? Pix

Richard Pike
Great news regarding the MRA's, can't wait to get a couple of rakes for Westhouses. Richard
Ron Ron Ron
BBA's - fantastic news. MRA's - even better !! Along with the JNA's and Bachmann's Autoballasters, this is going to be a good year for modern era engineering trains. .
Southernman46
Ha - 1st detail query then............ BBA's - will they be as built with Y25 bogies or as many now are with those 'orrible cast commonwealth things that total ruin the asthetic quality of the wagon ??
Glorious NSE
Given they say they will come with coil loads I would suspect a "classic" version of the wagon, the wagons no longer carry coils as BBAs, there are specific coil cradle conversions these days. IIRC the original bogie is the FBT6 not a Y25, they are a bit bigger & chunkier than Y25's and also appear under other "chunky" wagons like the Scunny iron ore tipplers and FNA flasks The modern replacements that some wagons have are already in the Dapol range (ish) from under the MBAs

MRDBLUE17
Couldn't make DEMU as away on a Stag weekend and just arrived back from Manchester so great to be able to not only see photos from the show but also these very exciting new anouncements from Dapol. There is going to be a lot of choice available to us and I can already see me wanting a lot starting with a pack of MRA's - I will be able to run these along with my planned set of 5 autoballasters from Bachmann so will make a cracking train to run but will need to build the layout for these as that would be too big for Rannoch. The BBA will also be of interest to me and I'm sure a set of Falcons to run behind some of my freightliner 66's will be on the cards as well. Thanks, Mark
Will Vale
Didn't even spot the announcement of the MRAs. Another one to save up for, and you can even run them with a class 14 Will
definate maybe
I think I get more impressed with Dapol with every year that passes. The amount of totally new releases keeps going at a very impressive speed. Does anyone know if these models are also planned for future N gauge release? BobD
Now, if Dave could scale the MRA down to N, then I might be interested.
RMweb Gold The Fatadder Posted June 14, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 14, 2010 Will definitely be taking a set of MRA, will need to start looking for some 2003 photos showing them in a mixed formation to work out what else I will model to go with it... Turbots are a tricky one, on one hand I have built half my planned rake of them using Cambrian kits. On the other I cant stand painting dutch so it would cost a fortune to pay to get them all painted to a standard that I am happy with, I suspect I will end up just selling them all off and replacing with the Dapol one (assuming its Silver Bullet/FEA standard and not Megafret/Monster box standard...) The only other worry I have is the talk of all these working features on the MRA, I really hope they give up on the idea of opening doors and tipping wagons as it will only result in compromise in the accuracy & fineness of the finished model! deltic79
Wasn't Flangeway planning the Turbot a few months back or was that a rumor? According the the usual modeling magazines they were indeed planning a Turbot but I've never seen this advertised on their website. It was always rumoured that Dapol manufactured the Independent Snowplough and Mermaid for Flangeway and if that is indeed true, perhaps Flangeway have decided against releasing the Turbot and Dapol are taking the project forward themselves? Just a thought.
