First show as a completed layout for Shelfie2. A couple of shout outs to @Barry Tenfor learning the ropes and playing trains for me whilst I had some useful ‘career development’ chats, very useful indeed. Not forgetting @Not Jeremy and @queensquarefor the invite to attend, and the kitchen massiv! Finally  to those visitors who stopped and spent time with us, it makes it worthwhile.

What can I say, first visit to the show and what a wonderful event (plus cake)!!! Was great to catch up with so many people and meet a few new ones too.

It's take a day, but I've finally got around to posting the video from my visit (hope I've got all the layout descriptions right)... Certainly looking forward to the next!

23rd July 2022 saw the return of the Larkrail Model Railway Exhibition hosted by the Exe Model Railway Society, at the New Oriel Hall, Larkhall, Bath.
The show featured no less than 15 layouts and dioramas in a variety of gauges and scales, as well as a good selection of demo stands, plus trade.
Layouts as featured;
SHELFIE 2 - 4MM
BETHESDA SIDINGS - P4
HEYBRIDGE WHARF - 3MM FINESCALE
WISTERIA COLLOP - OO9
MOREDON SOUTH - 4MM
PEASEVERN YARD - 7MM
WOODSIDE - 4MM
YORK - 2MM FINESCALE
PITT HILL - 2MM FINESCALE
DIAMOND JUBLIEE 2MM MICRO - 2MM FINESCALE
BLACK ROCK - GAUGE 1
UPWATCH WORKS - 7MM
FOXBURY - 3MM
GAUGE 1 HYDRAULICS - GAUGE 1
OVJUSKO STARI - 7MM
Hope you enjoy!

Thanks for posting the video.

Thanks for the invite Jerry.

Echoing all that everyone has said about this little show. A brilliant weekend in every respect and, of course, thanks to Jerry and Simon for organising it with the catering and cake 'team', Kim and Edna (there were  others behind the counter who also played a significant part but I can't recall the names - it's an age thing...!)

I'll always travel a little way to get to this kind of event. A really good standard show with something for everyone.

There were some very nice comments made about 'Pit Hill', our model of the self acting incline, notwithstanding the fact there was not a jot of scenery on it. It's been some time in the planning and the manufacture of the bits and pieces to get us where we are. Thank you to those who took special interest in it. I don't know whether a GWR engine would ever have appeared on a County Durham Colliery system John (although you never know, because some did travel far and wide..!)  but it was good to see the fruits of your labour running.

Pit Hill will be at Railwells in the same form in a couple of weeks time.

Wasn't it a great show? So friendly, so much varied modelling to see, great catering and an all-round joyous vibe, of friends old and new being able to get together again. What a marvellous, communal hobby this is, absolutely at its very best with Lakrrail. Thanks Simon, Jerry, Kim et all, and all the exhibitors for making it work.

Well what a marvelous day, a great big thank you to everyone who contributed - visitors, exhibitors, bakers and the catering team, what a bunch of stars you all are.

My old friend Michael Rumsey came and had a chat with me on the door during a quiet moment. Michael had not been to Larkrail before and commented that, wonderful modelling aside,  it seemed to mainly consist of people stood around in groups, drinking tea, eating cake and chatting - he seems to have got the hang of it pretty quickly and liked what he saw!!

Plenty of room is allocated for sitting, chatting and generally socialising and here we see Simon C himself doing just that whilst Kim looks to be unwrapping yet another home made cake. Sheep bloke looks to have a Collie on his tail.....

One of the undoubted stars of the show was Pete Kirmond's York and here Pete can be seen going all weak at the knees in the presence of Gordon Gravett - well who wouldnt!

The last picture in this first selection is a triumvirate of 2mm modellers, John Greenwood, John 'Doncaster Green' and Mick Simpson discussing operations on Pit Hill. Just what is Mick demonstrating .... answers on a postcard.....

A great day, thank you very much to everyone who exhibited and visited and also for all the lovely feedback.

Still recovering, sorting out the admin; we will give the "results" shortly, including a date for next year's show, but suffice to say that we will be making decent donations to both of our charities after everyone's efforts this year, so thank you again to all.

Kim's crew in the kitchen were fantastic, Kim, Georgina, Edna and Dave - thank you all so very much.

Feeling quite humbled by the whole thing really, the amount of effort and goodwill that was so clearly evident, the quality and imagination displayed by all of the exhibits - we truly have a wonderful hobby.

I took some photographs, not all entirely sensible...

An aerial view of Brian and Branchline...

Amazing how some of us can have so much hair after all these years....

Timmy Two trousers was a bit too busy to visit all the exhibits, he was a bit overwhelmed by everything at Black Rock..

But found York a bit smaller than he remembered it...

He was a bit bothered by the spotters sitting on the platform edge, but was persuaded to leave them be as the layout was temporarily disconnected from the rest of the 2mm scale world.

Rich Phipp represented the Watchmouth Railway with quiet dignity, in the background is the Gordon and two Martins.

And then there were the big trains!

A fantastic day!
