Devonbelle
Lovely show; great people and really well organised. And a privilege to be asked to bring the Croatian O layout. Lovely tea and cake. 16
RMweb Gold NHY 581 Posted July 23, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 23, 2022 Well, Larkrail lived up to expectations. A top notch gathering of first class layouts and top drawer demos populated by a really decent bunch of chaps. A veritable who's who of some of the country's finest modellers. If this was the only exhibition I could attend all year I would be a very happy chappy. Rob 9

RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted July 23, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 23, 2022 It certainly was a colourful day, and after those treats for those still with us😆 Loved the trams, reminded me of the very large scale ones I used to see at shows in the 80’s, simple layout but evocative. PMP with his more modern version of simple but evocative, 15
RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted July 23, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 23, 2022 I’ll leave it to your imagination about the breadth of subjects being discussed here. Did I mention I liked the trams? I do hope you’re all down the pub celebrating a fun day :) 13
RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted July 23, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 23, 2022 Top notch job one and all. Superb collection of layouts with quality shining among quantity and a clever mix of scales and gauges with some really neat operating going on. And even tho' it was rather tiny it was nice to see a model of the place where my great grand uncle spent most of his working day more than a century ago. Cheese salad sarnie was most acceptable as was a slice of Victoria sponge so well done Kim (and the tea wasn't bad either). So a nice day out with pleasant train trips to/from Bath. But First's efforts at informing 'foreigners' where to find details of local omnibuses and then failing to tell you that they don't actually pick up in the city centre where their website tells you they pick up did add a bit of frustrating adventure to an otherwise enjoyable day. I'm definitely looking forward to next year but will no doubt be faced with yet another puzzle about where to join the bus. 2 1
RMweb Gold Robert Shrives Posted July 23, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 23, 2022 I add my thanks and it was great to be third through the door this morning, cake spend nearly matched book shop purchase - captive audience by bus inspired work. Slightly biased but 3mm layouts among the best in the show, all the others gave good supporting roles !! However the shown inspired presentation of York was amazing - some 83 arches created from etches a real labour of love. In reality all the layouts were labours of love and amazing works. As I said to one 3mm soc luminary - time to take up knitting! Big thanks to Simon and Jerry for hanging it all together and hope you sleep well tonight! Rob Curnow
Superb day out. Great cakes and the layouts were pretty good as well. All this month's pocket money spent in the bookshop and the journey to and fro was hassle free. Dates for next year???

RMweb Gold 46444 Posted July 23, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 23, 2022 I'll reiterate what others have said. It was a brilliant exhibition today and thanks to Jerry and Simon for their endeavours in organising of the event. Sadly, I never got to try Kim's Cakes or other elements of the catering but it all looked superb and well appreciated. Also thanks to Tim (CK) for allowing some 46444 visitations on Bethesda Sidings. Looking forwards to next year... Regards, Mark 2

rouse2037
Thank you Simon & Jerry for your organising of such a wonderful show. An excellent array of trains & train sets & friendly folk et cetera. My personal favourite was The Watchmouth Railway & I intend to visit the area to seek out the trackbed forthwith. Hurrah for Larkrail - there are men of sufficient faith there! 9
kirmies
I just wanted to thank everyone who commented so positively on my new layout YORK yesterday. Having spent many hours on it (particularly in recent weeks) I was tending only to see what's wrong with it. It seems there's quite a bit right with it as well! Here are a couple of photos takne this morning (first opportunity to spend a bit of time on the layout with a camera since painting the roof): Morephotos have been posted on the YORK for York Show 2023 thread 9 4
RMweb Premium Doncaster Green Posted July 24, 2022 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 24, 2022 What a brilliant little show! I suffered an excess of euphoria, firstly because it was the first show I've attended since Warley 2019 and secondly because I found a parking space less than 1 minute walk from the hall. Due to that excess there are no piccies as I forgot the camera and then managed to leave the phone on the seat of the car (luckily where it still was when I returned!). Every exhibit was superb in some way, but I must emphasise two of them. York is stunning; the concept is brilliant and, I believe, really works and the modelmaking is superb, and the embryo 2mm cable incline is absolutely fascinating - it's the first time I've seen an incline that actually works in model form and in 2mm as well! It was so good to meet and chat to old friends I've not seen for over 2 and a half years! My thanks to Jerry and Simon for their hard work in organising the show. My thanks also to Mick Simpson for allowing me to test my loco on the upper level of the incline and prove to me that I have actually managed to build my first 2mm chassis that works properly! My thanks to Simon, Jerry, Kim and the rest of the helpers for a really super show. Here are a couple of views of Mark's locos on Bethesda Sidings. It's interesting and perhaps a little poignant, as they are both types that I had my own examples of until fairly recently, but decided to sell on, in view of my decision to restrict Bethesda to smaller loco types: 11
