Thread to record photos of the class 69’s out and about on the network.

Starting with 69002 and 69005 together approaching Goring on 04/07/22. Dragging a 4 car Swift parcels unit with a pair of Arlington barrier coaches. Thrilled to see 69002 as I made a model of it last year.

What a credit to GBRF how well turned out 69 002 looks, large logo blue was always one of the best BR liverys but apart from Stratford most depots did not seem to be able to prevent the grey roofs going black within a few weeks of service!its great to see the freight companys turning out locomotives looking so smart.

What direction was it travelling in - no lights apparent and no tail lamp fitted

Towards the camera. The lights are lit, but these current spec BMAC clusters don't always look lit when viewed side on. You can see some white in both headlights and the LED markers look lit.

I did note a small difference in two of the lights compared to the third.  I guess it is better use of the light if it aims in the direction it's meant to rather than spreading out and diffusing.  It's like watching rotary powered aircraft on modern digital recording where they don't move and it confuses the mind because your eyeball would see one thing but the camera sees it differently.

The other thing to bear in mind is the markers appear to flicker on camera due to the refresh rate of the LEDs not matching the shutter speed.

This shows how variably these clusters cab photograph in daylight. All 3 markers and both headlights were lit in both photos. I can confirm, because I was driving 66005 on both occasions.
