There are (allegedly) people who are so uninformed about the alternatives to Hornby that they might think (?) that Hornby track would require Hornby track pins.  😉

Its not necessarily being uninformed. Some prefer a "one stop shop" approach, rather than shopping about, and Hornby attempt to cater for that market.

Convenience at a cost....OK if you are loaded enough not to care.....

You're quite right, but that's where companies like Peco come into play.  Modern business dictates to divest stock if there's little profit, or 'loss leaders'.

I agree with that in general, but SK has specifically stated in the past that he wants Hornby to be a 'one stop shop' for everbody's toy train needs, so I suspect they'll be selling track pins and bags of flock for a while yet. There's plenty of buyers out there for who the world of toy trains begins and ends with Hornby anyway, so he'll want to keep that captive market.

Perhaps Hornby on fixing there release date hadn't checked the magazine publication date!

Hornby Magazine is not part of Hornby Hobbies; they just grant use of the name to Key Publishing. All magazines are normally given the same embargo date.
