Both are excellant… right up to the standard you’d expect.. interestingly the 91 runs fast but uses 0.3 amps of power !!! Where as the 87 uses a more normal 0.1amp.. but both run fine.. but the 91 will run your electric bill more :-) the 91 paint job is a transfer (you can see where they rubbed down into the vent along the roof), but its a good job.. Close up on the 87… The loco is modelled in the AC disconnected position… I maybe wrong but 91110 looks sold out at Hornby, so maybe dont wait around. Picked up the 87 and very pleased.

AyJay
Anyone seen the Hornby posting on Facebook & LinkedIn on APRIL THE FIRST, concerning the Scalextric diesel locomotive slot car? It’s an absolute hoot 😂 I did suggest that they must produce a DeLorian car with railway wheels. I’d buy it just for a novelty😂

Ighten
Somebody help me and stop 🛑 me.. I'm tempted by the pair of Belmond Scotsman class 66 Hornby have just put out.. mainly as a very light weathering project and a tsx trial. I have a few questions though as I look at them.. where would I get the correct gb railfreight transfers from and would Hornbys incorrect version be hard to take off.. Also has anyone ever put out a kit to alter the light clusters as these are also obviously wrong and is there a further detail pack for the buffer beam. Not a criticism of Hornby as I get they produce these on masse to keep the price down yet produce lots of paint jobs. Other than that this actually looks one of the better applied efforts.

The GBRF logos/writing on the locos (i.e. minus the Europorte roundels) are correct from since 2017 as far as I can see. Your second point is more valid IMO, I'd me more concerned about the authenticity of the headlights! Might be worth trying to find a Hattons one (or both). Lets hope that 66746 doesn't come with 66743 on the end as the website pics suggest; I do expect that this is a photoshop of 743 as the positioning is identical from what I can see. Ighten
I was actually referring to the fact it should have the roundel in gold .. just wondered if anyone did this as a transfer.

But it shouldn't necessarily have one. I.e. it isn't a mistake. GBRF removed the Europorte roundels in 2016 or 2017, so the Hornby model is relevant for the last 5 years. As per this pic from 2017 (found on Flickr, not mine). Unless I am missing the point? Edited April 10, 2023 by TomScrut

Peter749
Reading thru the April edition of BRM I noticed the new Hornby Power Cars in Rail Adventure Livery https://uk.Hornby.com/products/railadventure-class-43-hst-train-pack-era-11-r30218 And although Hornby have modelled the power car with buffers on the ends they have not bothered to fit any couplings The person reviewing them in BRM suggested the owners could modify them to fit front couplings - what rubbish. £300.00 + for this pack and you cannot use it as intended is poor. Well nothing accurate is made for them to pull either, so its not a problem yet.
