RMweb Premium Silly Moo Posted April 4, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 4, 2023 There are some fantastic but often not very realistic scenes in The Polar Express and who can forget Gromit’s frantic tracklaying in The Wrong Trousers? 9 1

It was filmed in Ireland and the story goes that the driver ran a bit faster than the film crew wanted, so some of the ducking and diving was more realistic than they intended!

But is that 'a railway sequence' or 'a model railway sequence'? For sheer spectacle and the outcome of some very careful planning of both what would happen and how it would be filmed the collision sequence in 'The Train' will probably never be bettered - simply too expensive, and with potential dangers, to do something like that ever again. On top of that, albeit with a few rather forced details, the entire film's railway scenes made sense and were believable - an awful lot of railway scenes in films don't come anywhere near that. 6
33C
What about "The Signalman" with Denholm Elliott? A very creepy film with great atmosphere, adapted from the Charles Dickens "Mugby Jct." collection. 2
RMweb Premium Mallard60022 Posted April 9, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 9, 2023 Sorry about this. That St Trinian's one made on the Longmoor Railway; forgotten the title, bit its really silly, as is THE TITFIELD THUNDERBOLT. Best part of that is at the very end at Brizzle Temple Meads. P Agree on both (can't remember the title of the first one either, only seen it the once), but they're comedies so I guess they're supposed to be a bit silly 🤪!
