The location of this train, parked up between platforms 2 and 3 suggests to me that it's the empty "Kenny Belle" awaiting its next turn of duty.

33/1 at Clapham Junction on push pull services. We never saw them in depths of the South Eastern Divison. One however did make it to Dover town in the early 80s.

But in the “shallows” of the SED, they turned up for a while (occasionally) on the Westbury/Allington (near Maidstone) stone trains in place of the regular Eastleigh 33/0s.

That's a fantastic photo! I stand to be corrected but I think that photo was taken on the same platform that the spotters were standing on in the previous pic. I remember it being a stabling point for locos and a default place to look whenever I went there.

I seem to remember walking down that platform and on the right was the stabling point and then further down the platform on the left is where the spotters were. It was a long time ago now. I just loved the smells and atmosphere on the railway then.

I was never caught in that grim foot tunnel. were you?

I once stopped for too long near to where that 37 was and was thrown out. I soon discoved the secret was to keep moving.

Always made it but always went on a Sat PM or Sun when there less crew or maintenance staff about. Got caught inside SF works once but ducked out when we were told to "stay put and wait for the BTP to arrive" .................

Seems to have had a fair old side-skelp!

Looks strange seeing one on such a tight curve - very model-like especially with the buffers on the bogie.

EDIT: had a quick look-up and 46021 was withdrawn 16/1/83 (possibly due to the accident damage shown) and subsequently sent to Stratford works for component recovery.
