I very much enjoyed the quality of the modelling but I struggled with the height of the proscenium arch - it made for

uncomfortable viewing for me as I had to stoop.

Happened to be in Wells this weekend and had some time to spare this afternoon so popped in to have a look.  A very enjoyable show with some nice layouts and modelling and a very helpful chat with Roger Sawyer about soldering.

Finally managed to make to the show late this afternoon and spent an hour or so going round the show. Great range of layouts, and some superb modelling in display. Was great to chat with Rob on Ewe and Gordon Gravett about his latest project in French narrow gauge.

Railwells excellent as usual.

I'm hoping Andy Cundick might read this thread. We had a very interesting conversation around his ex LNWR, ex Manchester and Milford now GWR DX  goods which apparently spent some time in the Abergavenny area. I was wondering where that information came from?

A super show as always in lovely atmospheric Wells. Particularly delicious was the world cuisine available in the market square on the Saturday!

Mixed eras! The DFR getting in the way! The GWR stock belongs to team member Ian Harrison. Photo ctsy of 10800!

I checked again last night  and its actually a Coal engine and it was stationed at Aberystwyth, though i'm sure i've seen a photo of her at  Abergavenny ,in my defence i built her over ten years ago and a lot of locos have gone under the bridge since then,Andy.

Absolutely fantastic show and a nice strong cuppa.

I must confess to completely missing Torre, for which I am truly sorry 😞.  It was right behind me as I was looking at the Dart Castings stand.

Wharra muppet 🙄

Nevermind, I'm following it on here now 👍

I can't recall who these photos came from many years ago but they appear on the GWR Society website, http://www.gwr.org.uk/layoutsdrefach1.html  I probably was sent them when helping out John Redrup of London Road Models.

I don't know what year this would have been, but the smokebox door, lamp brackets and valve chest cover aren't original. Circular smokebox doors with a vertical front smokebox were introduced in 1884 and metal brake blocks from 1892 so the original loco would have been built (or rebuilt) after that date. The loco also has a GWR Dean tender AFAIK.

I can't find any reference to this particular loco in Talbots Illustrate History of LNWR Engines.

These two small photos show the model that had been built from the LRM kit, although the smokebox door has yet to be fitted.
