jazzer
I have to say Ex-Oke- Plym as well. I like to think of that route as Unrebuilt Bullied Pacific’s and T9’s but if we are talking about the latest generation of DMUs , ( the ones that look like space ships) , coupled with a few route improvements it could be a viable proposition , although I’d still rather do the route behind a Bullied or T9 1
RMweb Gold DaveF Posted March 10, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 10, 2021 I'll go for Exeter - Okehapmton - Plymouth as well. David
RMweb Gold Market65 Posted March 10, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 10, 2021 (edited) I’m also going with the Exeter - Okehampton - Plymouth line for this poll. Rob. Edited March 10, 2021 by Market65 To correct a spelling error.
RMweb Premium Welly Posted March 10, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 10, 2021 I also vote for the Okehamption line as that would have been a useful diversionary route when the seawall gets wrecked!

RMweb Premium great northern Posted March 11, 2021 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted March 11, 2021 And a final look at 60016, soon to be under the bridge and away. KNP
All of them but if I was pushed to answer then the first one as there was little foreground and background looked busy with no truncation.
RMweb Premium 31A Posted March 11, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 11, 2021 All good, but I prefer the first two to the last one as the loco is on the curve which exaggerates the overthrow between the engine and tender.

Engine on the golden section and plenty of other interest which doesn't compete for attention.
RMweb Premium great northern Posted March 11, 2021 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted March 11, 2021 Overwhelming votes in favour of Exeter Okehampton Bere Alston Plymouth, so that definitely qualifies as the most short sighted decision. Today, the counties of Somerset and Dorset, and I'll add in Wiltshire as well.
RMweb Gold jollysmart Posted March 11, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 11, 2021 In reply to the photo question the first photo is the best, the second is too head onto the loco and in the third the loco is right on an unflattering curve.

Personally, I find that one very difficult to call, partly because it's not really my part of the world and I don't know much about the economic aspects of the railway. Is Lyme Regis in Somerset, Dorset or Wiltshire? That seems like a nice place not to have a railway. 1
RMweb Gold Market65 Posted March 11, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 11, 2021 Ok, I’m also going with the Somerset and Dorset. It really should not have been closed down. Rob.

RMweb Premium Metropolitan H Posted March 11, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 11, 2021 Another vote here for the Somerset and Dorset, preferably including the branch to Highbridge and the ex Midland line to Mangotsfield for Bristol and Gloucester. However, I hope Gilbert can be persuaded to revisit Wiltshire, before going on to Hampshire, as there were two particular contenders for much-missed lines; - The GWR line from Patney and Chirton, through Devizes, to Bradford on Avon and Bath. - The Midland and South Western line from Cheltenham to Andover - and points south. RMweb Premium TrevorP1 Posted March 11, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 11, 2021 Too many choices in those three counties Gilbert but I can never understand why BR closed Taunton - Minehead. I appreciate the preserved line - it is one of my favourites - but in my view it was a very short sighted closure.
