I used to brief Igor quite regularly when he was, like me, just getting going in his career. Very nice man, and you could tell immediately that he would go to the top of his profession.

He is also a very good self publicist, who takes advantage of the fact that a lot of prosecutors and Magistrates don't know much about drink driving law. I do, or did, and was sometimes asked to head up cases where his firm acted for the defence. He never turned up against me. Fact. 6

RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted May 4, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 4, 2019 Yesterday Tim Easter phoned me to tell me that his father had died after a long illness. I only met him once, when he came with Tim to see PN, and I recall we had a very pleasant day. Back in 1958, at the tender age of 13, he had visited the real thing, and took some priceless photos, which he very generously allowed me to post on here, and which showed me some important details which I had never seen before. I'm sure you would all wish me to pass on your condolences to Tim and his Mother, and I think it right to mark his passing by showing once again a couple of those photos that he took all those years ago. Both photos taken in May 1958, and very good for a thirteen year old lad with a fairly primitive camera! RIP Brian Easter. 9 1
RMweb Premium 31A Posted May 4, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 4, 2019 Sad news, Gilbert - please pass on my condolences to Tim. What lovely photos, which just go to show how realistic your layout is! 1 3
RMweb Premium New Haven Neil Posted May 4, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 4, 2019 Indeed. I see on faceache Tim is a friend of a (real - also an organist) friend. Please pass on appropriate condolences. 1
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted May 5, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 5, 2019 We return to the progress of Seagull and the Flying Scotsman, which was recorded in considerable detail. I had a good look at this first one, and wondered if I could get away without shopping it. Predictably, idleness won. I even thought about doing the same with the next one, but decided there were limits that even I could not tolerate. It didn't occur to me though to see what it would look like in B&W before doing the photoshopping.

That's correct. It could be either O or Q, as both seem to have been used. I've been meaning to do some to attach to my pilots for about the last six years, but I haven't got round to it yet.

RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted May 6, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 6, 2019 We come towards the end of our photographers' fixation with Seagull and the Flying Scotsman. The driver of Mons Meg may well be envious of his colleague on the footplate of the A4, but at least he doen't have so far to go, though both trains will finish up at Edinburgh.

FarrMan
Also there used to be a GP in Mallaig whose name was Dr Duck, with a first name of Donald - and no, Clive, he was not just a quack. I was at one time teaching in Aberdeen with a teacher called Joseph King who did NOT like his first name abbreviated. Lloyd

My wife employed a lawyer called Rupert Bear in our divorce proceedings. He wasn't very cuddly.
