BBC Southwest went out today, looking to film a St. George's flag - it took them all day to find a single example flying. We should be ashamed - not of the flag - but for its absence! Some sixty years ago - when I was a Scout - there was a full military parade, on the Sunday nearest to St. George's Day, in every sizeable town and city in England. Ozexpatriate
Do they celebrate St. George's day in Russia and Georgia? Quote The Georgian Orthodox Church commemorates St. George's day twice a year, on 6 May (O.C. 23 April) and 23 November. The feast day in November was instituted by St Nino of Cappadocia, who was credited with bringing Christianity to the land of Georgia in the 4th century. The Ribbon of St. George is a patriotic symbol in Russia. St. George features on the coat of arms of Moscow. St. George appears on the Russian Presidential Standard. It's usually in the background when Vlad is on the telly. 1

GMKAT7
Good morning folks, When I was visiting Barcelona with my sister in April 1993 it just happened to be St George's day. The Catalans also celebrate St George as Sint Jordi, on April 23rd. There were people wandering the streets handing out red roses to young women, which my sister was at the time. I celebrated by having a glass or two of Estrella.😄 Cheers, Nigel.

Michael Hodgson
The old music hall joke was "St George for England! St Pancras for Scotland". Now it's "St George for England! St Pancras for France". That's the Auld Alliance foryou. 1
