There are only four chimneys left standing at Stewartby now, off to the right of the photo on the Up side, all those on the left are now gone, as are most of the other structures on that side of the line. Bottom one looks over-smoothed to my eyes, almost like a watercolour effect, especially on the background. Some people might prefer that, but I think the grainy one matches the workaday, gritty, industrial look better. Thinking about it, there's almost an expectation of graininess that comes from knowing it's an old B&W film shot. If you didn't know a thing about trains, and had no date for the picture, you might "naturally" prefer the second one. Better of the two, Mike! Minus five points!
