It turns out Sil's Husband had covid and wasnt vaccinated i dont know whether its that that killed him i have heard multiple organ failure, heart attack and something wrong with his stomach. I had gathered he had been on dialysis earlier in the week

It could well be COVID, Simon. Complications include pneumonia, viral sepsis, acute respiratory distress syndrome, kidney failure, cytokine release syndrome, respiratory failure, pulmonary fibrosis, multisystem inflammatory syndrome and chronic COVID syndrome (“Long” COVID). Why people are afraid of the “side effects” (aka Adverse Events or AEs) of the vaccines and not of the above mentioned COVID complications is beyond me  (the really serious vaccine AEs - such as blood clots - occur at rate below that seen for the same events in an untreated population).

Although the earlier variants of the virus had increased mortality associated with increased age (the Omicron variant still has a lot of unknowns) younger people were also hit (and hard) by COVID complications and, interestingly, early research suggests that this appears to be associated with a defect in  one of the very many complicated immune system pathways (as always we are at the mercy of our genes).

Bottom line: no matter how young, fit and healthy you may be, if your genome dictates otherwise - without vaccination you are well and truly stuffed!

In the village where I lived at the time three young men (17-19) were killed in road incidents in quick succession two of them brothers, non them their fault. All three were hit by idiots driving on the wrong side of the road.

Those physics lessons everyone hated came back to bite many of us.  One guy, apprentice mechanic at the mines  hit a tree in his Escort van, heavy unsecured metal tool box on a crate in the back kept going at original speed straight into  the back of his head.

Bear recalls that apparently a Labrador-sized doggie on the back seat of a car travelling at 30mph weighs the same as a baby Elephant when the car stops very suddenly.....and if said doggie isn't restrained then both doggie and anyone sitting in front are in for a sh1t day, even if the front airbags did their job...

Whenever carrying anything even remotely heavy in the boot of the Bearmobile I always cross the rear seat belts from left to right & vice-versa to stop the seat backs from collapsing due to stuff in the boot not stopping in the event of an accident.  Not tested it yet, fortunately.

Back in the late 80's in my mid-teens (showing my age here :P ) I went to the equivalent of a high school. As I moved in from another school, I was put in yr 2. Unfortunately, being the odd-ball out, I quickly became the pinball of bullying. One id!ot in particular was an ardent bully, but at the end of that year, I promoted to yr 3 while he was apparently so preoccupied with bullying me he hadn't studied enough and was kept in yr 2. Later that year he jumped on the back of his friends moped (friend driving) and they drove alongside a busy interchange road. As they were crossing the motorway entrance turn-on, a lady in a 2CV hadn't seen them, probably most likely due to speeding of the moped. It comes as no surprise I did not attend the funeral

For anyone who's been on the receiving end of such a person I'd conclude that there is some justice in the world.

The bloke is locked up under "full limitations" measures, meaning he can only communicate with his lawyer and from what I gather he's suspected of sexually abusing the girl. He's not gonna have a good time in prison, that's for sure!

The Prison Guards will be sure to let that little snippet of info out into the wider population.

I reckon it does qualify - even though the date and time of posting are missing - The Bearies have been very quiet of late; it seems ER'ers have had less to rant about recently - or perhaps there's been an en-masse "I must not rant/rant less in 2022" New Year's Resolution?

In other news.....

Bear's fun yesterday was confined to washing (lots) and changing sheets on the Bear Pit;  after that it was very much messing with notalot really, as well as watching films on the square box.  Must try harder today.....

Good morning all,

Frosty start but we have blue sky and sunshine and it should stay that way for a while but will become cloudier later. Phone app says it's 2°C with a real feel of -2°C.

Brownie points earned yesterday with a major clean of the washing machine detergent dispenser tray and orifice.  It seems "we" haven't done it for a long time.  "I" have now rectified this!

Found a leaflet in the letterbox this morning from our local chippy which is under new management.  Not only have they changed the name but they are now offering "buttered" sausages and Mars bars.  I suspect a speelink mistook.

Really enjoyable game of rugby watched yesterday with my two favourite teams slugging it out.  No 1 side Quins edged it but only just in the last minutes against Exeter who played half the match with 14 men.  Another match today to watch when top team Tigers take on Wasps in their nest.

Son Steve is popping in for a chat later and also to assist me with a computer problem.  (The problem being I haven't a clue what I'm doing!  :banghead: )

A small fry-up is being prepared, just egg, bacon, tomato and toast today so I better "get a move on."

Have a good one,

Bob.

Has been and consumed :D

Just egg, bacon, tomato and toast fried bread today as a little treat.

Another MIUAYGA day I fancy.

Blue sky, sunshine - I think a walk is in order somewhere along the line (if only to compensate for the bikeless Biker Breakfast!)

Morning all from Estuary-Land. The eczema has flared up this morning so suitable ointments have been applied. The usual culprits (AI&SA) made a few murmurings this morning but soon went back to sleep so I'll try not to disturb them'

Ey up!

Why do some bowlers need to pick the seam of the cricket ball being used?

Looks certain that  foxy has removed our rat problem. Great!

Time to.. drink my mugatea then geronwith Sunday!

Stay safe!

Baz

I thought that interfering with the ball was against the rules in cricket?

Foxes are the best way of dealing with a rat problem, foxes move in and the rats are soon gone. When I lived in Romford the house backed on to the railway embankment. One day when out in the garden I heard a squealing noise. I looked up and saw a large dog fox with a rat in its mouth walking along the embankment, the squealing was coming from the rat.

Yes they are outlawed within the Laws of Cricket  but umpires don't look for it very often at International level (or nowadays at local and county level). Remember it was the South African commentators who spotted the "sandpaper incident"

Yes Foxy really has done the trick.. He may get a little reward if it gets really cold....

Preparation work for my meeting today goes on apace!

Afternoon All

First off amazing news - ALL posts read and many rated - and as usual, greetings are offered to all ailing and celebrating - and welcome back to Dutch Master after a long absence.  Interesting to see the reactions to my posting the videos of Emily Linge - and some have been doing some googling as well.  I was not aware of her age, I just saw her as an amazing musician with an excellent voice but doing what my fellow ERs did I am amazed by her talent and potential when she is a little older.

Now then (sorry - rant mode on)

Went down to Lidl for 09.40 and was among the first into the store - found the microwaves, there were three on the shelf, and they were marked on the shelf edge as being microwave and grill price £69.99 - got one into my trolley, and as I was picking up the other shopping I was reading the description on the box - no mention of the grill function, so I got my brochure out and compared the model no there with the model no on the box - totally different - I rang 30747 to tell her, and another woman who was also buying must have overheard me.  She sought out the assistant manager, and had him open the box to check the user guide - which he did, and concurred that there was no grill function on this model - I put mine back on the shelf, as did the assistant manager, with the open boxed item - and the third had already left the shop.  Where this went wrong is that the assistant manager just put them back, did not remove the shelf edge, and also, and more importantly, did not remove the offending items from the shelf pending sorting this out with Head Office.  A fairly strongly worded email has gone to Lidl. (rant mode off).

Regards to All

Stewart

Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. I was going to make an omelette for lunch but I dropped the carton of cream getting it out of the fridge so I spent half an hour cleaning the kitchen floor. Luckily the carton was nearly empty and the cling film over the top contained a lot of it and nothing escaped to under the units. Lunch was bread, cheese and pickles. Time to put the kettle on, be back later.

Language please Mr Bear. It is before the 9 pm watershed and you don't know who might be reading this drivel.

Now I was going to point this out to Her Maj. but thought better of it, as it could adversely affect Bear's forthcoming knighthood   Besides, all English is as per that contained in the OED, so it must be ok - mustn't it? :biggrin_mini2:

Heavening orl.

Yes, archery again - no PB this week, but she won.  Beat the top archer guy in the group, but to be fair to him he's running in a new bow and isn't fully up to speed with it yet.  The cheater didn't turn up.

Fancy a shot at the (foam) deer?
