Those doing the job seem to have made no attempt the prep the existing painted pebbledash in any way - not even a wash down & scrub with a stiff brush...or removing the green mildew above the front porch where the guttering has been overflowing in heavy rain..... If their work is anything like the spelling on the company website then I wish the house owner the very best of luck: Silycone render Insullated board render BG 1 3 7

Charge for the buffers!" he said: Into the Station of Death Commuted the six hundred….. ….. RMweb Gold Popular Post Tony_S Posted May 15, 2023 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted May 15, 2023 (edited) I went off for my appointment with an endocrinologist at Southend Hospital this morning. I like to get to such appointments early so I don’t arrive rushed with blood pressure causing concern. So I arrived at the hospital an hour early and joined a car park queue. I was still in the queue with no chance of escape an hour later, then a couple of cars left, the barrier lifted and I got in. I was 10 minutes late (the clinic was someway from the car park). The doctor was waiting for me to check in. She was very nice and very understanding about the parking. I think I will get Aditi to take me or I will go by bus next time. More tests booked, larger dose of vitamin D3 prescribed. Aim is to see whether there is a problem or results are abnormal but normal for me. I am sure Dorothy would have got him to change a few other words once the cow was transformed to a cloud. There is a long tradition of cow aviation in English literature especially jumping over the moon. I may of course be wrong as I wasn’t considered clever enough to take the O level literature paper, just language. RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted May 15, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 15, 2023 Afternoon Awl, Had a battle with the internet or the internet as one bank deems it. Got there eventually, after battling through password checks, two computers going into over drive doing updates, the cheque book escaping from the folder and diving down the back of a radiator. I'm already on the permitted access list, I just have to become the prime user. So I needed to apply for a form. Several pages of text with some typing on each, it says send, so I do, Only then does it say the applicant should be the previous holder of the post, not the incoming!!! So we are now in a period of waiting to get the rejection before I can get the previous holder of post apply again. Then I drove the inherited car...round and round the garden. Down, turn right, round the hazel nut tree, turn left between the apple and pear, turn left between the Italian junipers left before the mobile home, then right down the garden , doing a three pointer on the driveway before repeat. This is to keep the batteries charged, the brakes from going rusty, and to warm through and dry out the engine. Very strange with a three cylinder engine, not as smooth as a four, and being so small it needs revs. The rev counter goes up to 6.5k, before the red which goes up to 8k. The fuel was flashing low, so I put in 10ltr, that took it to nearly half full!!!. Must remember to get more fuel for the mower. Of which, except for a track round the garden, the grass is now getting to need a mow again.. Discovered the fig tree is interfering with the TV aerial signal for the new computer room. The fig is due for a major prune anyway, but not today with a fairly strong chilly wind off the north sea... As I was outside I decided to go to the shed to do some filling of the current picture frame under restoration. Very strange, a plain wooden frame thickly gessoed before painting black , they could just have sanded the wood before painting. The gesso is badly chipped, now it's filled, It'll be sanded tomorrow. Ben is a very lucky Collie, the neighbour has just been round with left over steak for him.... ... He's just had a tiny piece.. happy Collie!!! Time to study pruning fig trees. 1

Popular Post Ian Abel
Moaning all! Weekend was busy with various to-do's and then we hit SUNDAY! Here in the US it was Mothers Day, AND, though it's only occurred a handful of times since she was born, Jemma's birthday. This resulted in yours truly rushing around providing ALL the comestibles for a family "do" to celebrate both events. It all went off extremely well, according to all partaking, and I received plenty of praise for what I'd managed to achieve. Buqqer, I'm TIRED!!! Wish today was a day off 😵 Back at it, working, may have to nod off briefly though at some point <yawn> Lovely weather here, 10c first thing and sunny, 22c the expected high. Some light rain over the weekend, none in the forecast for a couple of days. Carry on.
RMweb Gold DaveF Posted May 15, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 15, 2023 (edited) I've had a nice quiet day. The housework, washing and ironing have been completed to my satisfaction. Then I moved the furniture in the bedroom and put one chest of drawers in the garage. I shouldn't stub my toe again as there is more space. Most things in the drawers of the removed chest now have new homes as have a few ornaments. A small bookcase was also moved after it was emptied, then later the books were put back. Next was coffee and a read of a magazine just after which the postlady bought my parcel which I unpacked and checked - later today I hope to look at the books. A few minutes later the other postlady brough my ordinary post, just a magazine. I checked the greenhouse and made sure the window vent was working correctly and dead headed. I filled the birdbath. By now it was lunchtime, after that I edited tomorrow's grocery order - to be honest I changed about half the things on the list and managed to spend a little bit more but achieved a 20% discount by choosing the things on offer - though it was partly by chance. I also filled the birdbath again. After that I settled down to the DVD which was a trip from Edinburgh to Newcastle in the driving seat (well next to it) in a conveyance which runs on steel strips and is powered by electricity. I was able to check that some viewpoints from the surrounding countryside are still available. I think that at one point I may have seen my car parked by the roadside, sadly the DVD doesn't give the date it was filmed. During that I had a cup of tea and a piece of chocolate cake. I also filled the birdbath again. The next task is to water the greenhouse, outdoor pots and fill the birdbath yet again. The birds delight in emptying it as soon as it is filled by bathing and splashing their wings about. After that it will be time for tea, the local news, replying to some e mails and then a read and TV. In other words a nice relaxing day. My toe has only hurt when I have forgotten and put some weight on that side of my foot. David Edited May 15, 2023 by DaveF
Popular Post sixoh8sixoh
Afternoon all, seeing @BoD's "Inspired by Crianlarich" update gave me a little nudge to pop in to ERs, as I've not visited RMweb for a considerable time! No progress whatsoever has been made on railway modelling other than the acquisition of some new stock (Class 91 and Mk4s set, Caledonian Sleeper 92 and Mk5 coaches, nice Accurascale Deltic, some Consett iron ore wagons etc...), and the modelling cupboards are now overflowing... It was probably more than a year ago that I last visited ERs, so a very quick rundown of events since... Anamaria and I got married in June last year and last month celebrated the arrival of future railway modeller baby Emma. Currently sleep deprived and held hostage to a tiny bundle of lungs. Hope all are well and getting more sleep than me! 14 9

Then it was all the fun of applying the first topcoat of paint to the architrave pieces destined for the muddlin' room door frame - I'll be able to place them in position temporarily tomorrow to see how well the colour works (or not...) with the wall colours.
