Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Its come over cloudy this afternoon with high humidity. The builder has almost finished next door so in the next couple of days he will be working on my new shed base and moving the shed. Then I'll be able to get started on my 'wild' areas. Cold roast chicken and salad for dinner tonight, can't be asked to cook anything.

Bear has dangled after all - though just after starting the Sun went and made an appearance which didn't help matters (I really, REALLY do hate using water-based Paint unless it's going on a wall or ceiling).  I think in future I'll keep the danglin' for early morning missions.

 

After that it was yet another trip to the Chemist - I received a text to say a prescription was ready for collection only a couple of hours after I've just been down there; I hate it when that happens.  Still, it gave me an excuse for a minor wander en-route**, which is something I've not done for a long, LONG time.  #NaughtyBear.

 

**Note to DH:  For the purposes of Scenery & Structure Planning you understand.......

Steve and two others arrived just after 08.30, fortunately I'd already moved my car out of the way .  There was plenty of space to park their Land Cruiser with a trailer and a big pick up opposite as I'd parked my car in the small parking spaces round the corner by the grass area.  They got on quickly, dug out the old gravel, laid the membrane to stop weeds, got the various small slabs down and the the gravel.  They did run out of gravel and had to get some more, fortunately the place they use is less than 10 minutes away - by now you must realise that I live in quite a compact town where almost everything is nearby.  I was glad they hadn't ordered a big bag as there would have been far too much.

 

The yew and holly were trimmed, I can do a little bit of detailed shaping at the end of the autumn but it looks fine for now.  All I've had to do is make sure that soil from one small area of bed doesn't wash down onto the gravel so I've put a length of lawn edging behind the ordinary path edging until I get the soil moved - it's only about 2" deep and 4' x1'.  I didn't ask them to do it as it contains some plants I want to keep and I've got to make a space for them. They cleared up everything after them and left during the afternoon, taking with some some concrete path edging which has ben lying around for a few years.

 

As usual in my town everyone knows everyone else so whenever they went to get anything from the trailer conversations with neighbours ensued.  I am very pleased with it and have paid them.  The only problem was when a very small piece of stone got caught in the greenhouse door runner, it has happened to me quite often so I was able to deal with very easily while they looked on.  It was sunny and quite warm, now it is cloudy and cold, 15C with a wind, rain is forecast which will be useful as it will wash the dust off the gravel.

 

While they were working I sorted out photos and persuaded both my PC and laptop to update themselves and deleted more things I no longer want.  Now it is nearly time for tea then I will relax and watch TV, I was more anxious about getting it done than I had expected.

Tickets bought for 2 T20s next year Irish Women then Irish men v England and some tickets for an Australia v England ODI in September.  5 tickets for each game.. £750 ..kerry ching (and a mate needs 3 of the tickets and will pay for them...)

 

Shark was wielded this morning ..a bit of Bazball has been watched as has a little eyelid inspection.(Her indoors is not sleeping well at the moment, this means baz is not sleeping well at the moment.. pah!)

*    200C Coffin tank.   I would have preferred a 200B but this was "Very reasonably priced" and included a skip load of spares some of which might have application on a baby 125 version too.

**  Management even suggested the revised plan "to buy very local" was a good idea!   Note: No mind altering drugs had been administered prior to the discussion.

Evening all from Estuary-Land. Its cooled down a bit now but still a bit clammy. The front door deadlock is still not engaging but Adrian the builder has said that its probably the hinges that need adjusting and when he's finished he'll take a look at them. There is a plastic cap over the hinge hiding the adjustment screws. I suspect he may be right as the door seems to be about a millimetre closer to the jamb at the top.

Mein Gott!! The only way of finding out if a prescription is ready for collection from our chemist is to go there, queue for half an hour and then usually be told, “We only got it a week ago so it isn’t ready yet.”

I had the same problem about a week ago.  A quick google showed how to get at the adjusting screw.  The top hinge actually looks slightly bent which may have contributed to the problem.

Good part of today was spent finding hardware for a future unmentionable, at least a 9 piano hinges and 4 pivot / scissor hinges and lots plywood screws and ....and...

Now researching various special effects for said unmentionable..

 

Meanwhile, a friend i knew in Saudi, that built a boat out there much bigger than mine.  I've discovered is now also doing unmentionables, sadly his current unfinished one has been visited by Dr Beeching, because my friend is moving house.

 

Under the plastic cap on the hinges of a uPVC door is normally a fairly large Allen screw and it should be quite easy to adjust yourself.

 

Just had another reset of this tablet, so it wasn't the SD card causing the problem.

 

Time to go before it resets again.

The Docs + local Boots Chemist are very well geared up, fortunately - the Doc sends Prescriptions straight to them electronically; Boots also manage the repeats and reliably request them from the Doc every month.  Works a treat, fortunately.
