RMweb Premium Popular Post Barry O Posted January 16 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 16 (edited) Ey up! Not very well overnight due to something I ate.? Yuk! Busy day ahead. Visit by Financial Adviser "spend some money" then a trip to the opticians as, since my last laser treatment my glasses are not working as well as they did. Pah! No cricket ton8ght.. I need a break! Rest of the week is silly too with a few mini meetings scheduled. (And not all cricket ones.. hurrah!) We are avoiding snow at the moment here in the North West Leeds Highlands. Not sure for how long though. Dr Eldest Herbert has sent a video of the snow outside his flat in Didsbury... he can keep that! A quick question if I may? Does everyone know how to read PMs on here? Stay safe ... Supportive thoughts to all with ill health. Baz Edited January 16 by Barry O 1

I regular have to address meetings and regulatory fora and I long ago settled on Persian Gulf as the least objectionable and if Arbs take issue I can point to IMO documents and say 'don't blame me, I'm only using the name agreed at IMO'. Much more of a headache than most as it is so significant to global trade and politics (outside of Argentina and Britain very few could care less about the Falkland Islands/Malvinas for example). RMweb Gold grandadbob Posted January 16 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 16 (edited) Good morning all, Frosty start but the skies seem clear. A dry and breezy day with variable cloud and bright spells is forecast. Chilly at -3°C rising to 3°C. I had a reasonable night but The Boss didn't. Tea has now been taken up to Herself who is feeling a bit under the weather. Might be just a chill, I hope it's nothing more. One small mishap yesterday and another small piece of tooth broken off so a visit to the dentist has been booked for tomorrow. Another day of doing nothing too energetic but I may go for a walk. Other than that nothing else to report. Have a good one, Bob. Edited January 16 by grandadbob

I believe that the Nova car sold badly on the Iberian peninsular. Something that gives an impression of "new" in English, means doesn't work in Spanish - Nova = no va = no go. Good morning all. Here our snow has disappeared much quicker than it arrived - still odd patches in sheltered hollows but essentially gone. Now just cold and damp. I think I preferred the snow. RMweb Gold Popular Post DaveF Posted January 16 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted January 16 (edited) -2 here this morning with cloud tending to build, it may snow later. The last few days I've not been feeling my normal fairly cheerful self, my black dog has been snapping at my heels. Yesterday evening I found I didn't like any music, didn't like the TV, found things I disliked in my daytime book and my foot was extremely painful. So I went to bed feeling very miserable, expecting to fret and not sleep. I did get to sleep but then woke feeling as though I'd been crying. I read a bit of my bedtime book and then light dawned. There are a few days in the year when over time a lot of unpleasant things have happened, 13th - 15th January are amongst the worst for a whole host of reasons. Once I had realised that things got much better and I drifted off to sleep again. This morning I woke feeling more refreshed and a sniffle and headache has gone, perhaps I have had a mild virus. My painful foot also feels a great deal better. It has some of the symptoms of plantar fasciitis but it isn't that as it goes away too suddenly. It is more likely something to do with arthritis as it is worse when the weather is going to change or if it is very wet or suddenly very dry. I had a phone call from the consultant's secretary this morning, the planned date for the surgery next week won't work because I will need to be in hospital for at least one night so we have agreed on a date in the middle of next month but if things change it will be done earlier. It can't be helped and it gives me more time to get things sorted out - there are a number of things which need to be done and I couldn't do them straight after surgery. I am going to have a rest for a few days as I feel very tired and run down, I need to find simple enjoyable things to occupy me. While it stays cold I am going to stay at home or only go out for rides in the car not walking until my foot is back to normal and I feel less weary. My apologies for such a long moan, I am sure I will feel a lot more cheerful in the coming days. The plan for today is work on photos, make a model, read, relax. Perhaps watch a nice DVD. Popular Post Winslow Boy
Well we have snow here in the Manutopean Highlands - quite thick as well. Cogetating whether I need to find the tennis rackets. Strangely enough Devil Dog quite likes the white stuff. Strange things dogs. Her predecessor Ziggy Mk 1 was not enamoured with it. Just weighing up the odds as to whether to use the car or shankses ponies to collect the paper. Normally we then go for madams long walk after that but again that might have to be 'rearranged'. Anyway wish me luck and thanks for all the fish. 19
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted January 16 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 16 Morning all from Estuary-Land. Wall to wall blue sky this morning but COLD. But at least the dry weather is keeping Arthur Itis at bay. I received an e-mail this morning informing me that a mobility aid I ordered before Christmas is on its way, it should make getting in and out of the bath safely a lot easier. My new house insurance details have arrived so I will be checking them shortly. A bit more than I paid the previous insurers but far less than the old company demanded. There was an Item on BBC Breakfast about the demise of Hatton's and the Warley show, I might watch it on I-player.
RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted January 16 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted January 16 (edited) The Boss is definitely not well as shehasnotgottamoveon, is still in bed and feeling quite sorry for herself. Most unusual as she is rarely ill. I have designated myself as Head Nurse, Chief Gopher and Whipping Boy, the latter just in case she wants to blame someone for her woes. Might as well be me, oh actually it always is. Edited January 16 by grandadbob 3
Popular Post Grizz
Morning All Lovely frozen morning outside…….Except that there have been some complaints. The Chooks have been protesting loudly, from around 07:00, that their water has gone stiff. The one on the left is Babs, she is the lowest in the pecking order, but despite this she is quite bright as she has worked out that she can drink the water where I have broken the ice. Whereas Solar in the middle and Bunty on the right haven’t mastered this yet. They are busy inspecting the tiny fragments of ice that pinged out of the trough when I stuck my size 12 boot through it. This time, because we had a full service last time which addressed a few minor issues, she re-pressurised as per the destructions. Open the feed loop, watch the pressure rise as water enters, close the feed loop at 1.5 Bar. All over in less than a minute. The hot water is hot once more and the radiators are radiating nicely. I'm not altogether happy about burning kerosene to achieve this but we don't have gas in town, the alternative is straight electric power which is fine until a storm brings the wires down and there is fossil-fuel consumption at some point however you power your home. ION In the "Credit where credit is due" department. Some of you may have picked up in the past my very subtle hints that I have been displeased with my local GPs over recent years. Well, following the successful application for an appointment last week I have now actually had a face to face appointment with one of the new GPs where not one but two different issues were discussed, plans where formulated and actions set in motion with the necessary degree of haste. So top marks to him and grateful thanks from me. It's very good being satisfied with service for once and not having to be grumpy! I think I need to do some research on the old Mondog today. It's developed a very poor tickover when cold recently so I need to find out what's happening / not happening under such conditions. It's only done just under 200K miles so barely run-in I would have thought 🤔 Other than that, not a lot on really. TTFN 5

RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted January 16 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 16 Good morning everyone Another busy day here in the northwest corner of England. Like WB, we have got some snow, about 1in so far and it shows no sign of melting yet. I’ve already been out to do the Sainsbury’s Grand Prix, which was deferred from yesterday and I’ll be going out again this afternoon to fill the car up and to get myself some new pants! RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted January 16 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 16 Afternoon Awl, Didn't have time to post this morning, because I didn't have a great night's sleep until the end. When I was leaving a long line of builders vehicles. Including two diggers headed for the road behind the beach , as I arrived back a lorry loaded with insulation panels and other builders materials was headed that way. During the day I was working on, a 1/1000, HF200 radar, didn't go too well.. A 1/76 Bedford MWD truck, need heavier duty tools it's an extremely hard 3D print. A 1/72 Crossley Truck, resin moulded, a bit fragile but went well. A 1/76 Bedford QL truck, airfix, for something made using 1966 moulds ( it says on the box) surprisingly little flash, going together well. I was doing a little of each at a time, allowing each to set properly before the next step. Fingers very cold by the time I was finished. The sun is setting, the temperature has dropped . There are sugar beet tractors and trailers thundering up and down, they are harvesting another field. Time I found something for the evening meal. 22
