RMweb Gold Popular Post DaveF Posted April 12 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted April 12 (edited) I decided to go to a garden centre this morning. Leaving town I found only one set of lights by the new roundabout works, the ones at the level crossing/station site were turned off so only 10 minutes was added to my journey. Just north of Morpeth I leave the A1 where it changes from dual to single carriageway, there was a traffic tailback as sometimes happens, fortunately there was just enough room for me to get onto the slip road without having to stop. I had my free cup of coffee and a nice cheese scone and found the thing I was looking for - a long handled trowel as bending is not easy yet. The handle is a bit longer than a normal spade so I can easily remove small weeds and plants, it also enables me to reach across the very wet soil without standing on it. I also had a look at The Works outlet and found a few books I couldn't live without. I managed not to buy anything else at the other outlets and left just before noon. It is a large place, it takes about 5 minutes to walk from the door to the restaurant at the far end of the site. I came a different way home into the north side of town to avoid the roadworks by using the newish northern Morpeth by pass which worked well. But why do some people drive at 10 mph under the speed limits and then stop at roundabouts when there is no other traffic? On the way into town I stopped at little Asda which is about half a mile from big Asda. It is useful as it often has things in stock which big Asda doesn't have, that proved to be true today - and I ended up with a 25% discount as things I wanted were on offer. I had a ready meal for lunch - a shepherd's pie which was vacuum packed and keeps for over 6 months without refrigeration or freezing and then heats up in a microwave. I looked at the ingredients, there didn't seem to be anything "man made" except for the Worcestershire sauce. It was very tasty. This afternoon I've tried out the trowel and done some church things. RMweb Gold DaveF Posted April 12 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 12 I've been going through today's e mails. My gas and electricity bill is going down by £15/month and my mobile bill this month is £2-80. A good day. Even better - the sun has put in an appearance. I'm sure that Polybears beef with ice cream van tunes isn't with the tunes themselves, but with highly distorted electronic reproduction, akin to a cheap multi-tune electronic doorbell. I'm with him with that! 10 2

Askin' for a friend...... Aditi was on a course once, it must have been for Adult Education. She was partnered by a colleague from the Careers Service. They had to continue working after dinner on the Saturday evening, writing proposals for courses that would widen community participation in Adult Ed. and other worthy aims. As they had been made to work (this wasn’t paid, just a professional expectation to attend),Aditi and her colleague’s submission went quite well until the course organisers realised it was something of a spoof. They had put together a course to attract people from the Italian community in Southend, noting that mobile confectionery retailers were very under represented on Adult Ed College courses. I think it may have been the “music appreciation” module that gave it away. 5

RMweb Gold Popular Post PupCam Posted April 12 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted April 12 Evening! Well it's been a long and busy day today. Up at the crack of sparrows, set-off to drive to St Evenage before 8:00 in order to get parked and to the station in very good time for the 9:30 Thameslink service. The train started well departing at 9:31 but was parked at Welwyn Garden City for more than 30 minutes due to signalling problems between St Pancras and Blackfriars. My first appointment time "up the smoke" came and went, phone calls to the hospital to advise them that we'd been delayed but were on our way and would arrive ASAP. When the train did finally get going again it turned into a non-stop express to Brighton at London Bridge but that was OK, we were off of it by then! Anyway, when we did finally arrive at the hospital two consultations and a number of standard procedures later plus a longish wait (as usual) at the pharmacy for a specific medication I was finally free to leave ~3:00pm. Unfortunately the signalling problems were still ongoing so our return was slightly delayed but we made it in the end. Nevertheless, the news on the important matters of the day were all good and agreement on the way forward over the next few months so a big smile and even bigger tick from Puppers 😀 Completely bushed now so a very early night is on the cards. Night All.

When Matthew was little, he asked why the ice cream van played music. I said it was so all the children whose parents couldn’t afford ice cream in their freezers could have some. Perhaps it was a bit cruel to tease a four year old but I assumed he would know I wasn’t being serious. A couple of days later he said his friend Sam always went to the ice cream van and Sam’s family had loads of money! Matthew had dyspraxia andn as well as the coordination problems, and difficulty following instructions we later discovered that not recognising untruths was another “symptom “. The more fiction he read really helped with that, learning to distinguish what was true and fiction. Before that he seriously believed his “friend” had a great white shark in his garden pond. We worked through it. Do you know how big one of those sharks is.? “Yes”. How big is Gary’s pond? “about 2 metres long “ .So how would it fit? Matthew said “but Gary is my friend, why would he lie to me?” Edited April 12 by Tony_S
RMweb Premium TheQ Posted April 12 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 12 (edited) Evening Awl, Don't get ice cream vans here, even though we are close to a beach. Just not enough people around, can hear them at a more popular beach occasionally, that's a couple of miles away. Museum was very quiet in the mooring, so did a lot of muddling on this. A Early Type 14 mobile Radar on a Austin K6 lorry. Anyway at 1/87 scale that dish is now attached to the transmitter cabin behind it. Almost ready to go ashore on 6th June ... Another hundred ish fence posts were fitting to RAF Neatishead 1/1000 scale 1983. Then on things unmentionable, at the MRC later things also went extremely well.. Muggachoccy gone goodnight Awl. RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted April 12 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 12 Evening all from Estuary-Land. RMweb Premium Popular Post The White Rabbit Posted April 12 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted April 12 Evening all, A fine sunny day for a change. Plenty of G-word 'stuff' done, including some prep for an unmentionable. The field was mowed and the results ploughed into part of the garden which is currently bare earth and a bit claggy. Hopefully the cuttings will help break this up. In worse news, someone I was talking to about taking some unmentionables changed her mind, usual epithets expressed. I was hoping that would clear some space but hey-ho... Various parcels are (allegedly) inbound tomorrow from a few folk, including one of unmentionables. Others are of assorted household 'boring stuff'. An interesting conversation had with a neighbour about Caterhams and a couple of dogs met and greeted. And that's sort of it... Rolex may be one of the best known Swiss chronometers (they are chronometers not watches) but they’re hardly amongst the most expensive ones. The Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime Ref. 6300A went for $31 Million at auction in 2019 Rolex are superb watches and you pay for the quality, but they’re rarely in the price league of Patek Phillipe or Audemars Piguet. Anyway, as to fooling the scrotes, fakes are pretty easy to spot (once you own a real one), the fake ones never “sit right” on the wrist. 5 1
RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted April 12 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 12 Good evening everyone Like yesterday, the weather remained fine, in fact I didn’t need to wear a jacket today, although Sheila still wore her coat! Anyway, the items we went to collect were picked up, so that’s Ava’s and Evie’s birthday and Christmas presents sorted! This afternoon I sat at the table and with the aid of a pencil, some paper and an eraser, I pondered the switching and wiring arrangements for the 3 way point. My final design uses, apart from some cable, just 3 items, 2 micro switches for changing the crossing vee polarity and a Double Pole, ON/OFF/ON switch for operation. The point will be operated using 2 mini servo’s mounted below the baseboard, the 2 micro switches will be mounted on the servo brackets, 1 on each servo and will be operated by the servo arms. Hopefully, the drawings below will make it all clearer. First the point and crossing vees The the operating switch

Do you sneak up on it from behind and throw a switch or is there a distant 'power van' (along with presumably a mobile scope van) where the switch would be located. I wouldn't want to go anywhere near the front side of that truck while the device was 'on'. 12
