Yes I spotted it yesterday on Leeds Midland Road when passing on the train at around 12:40. It was parked at the front of the depot.

I was very happy seeing it as I didn't know that it was there and it was the first ever Colas Rail 70 I have seen. I have to say they look very smart!

Pleased that Bachmann have plans to produce 70805

Making the class solo debut for Colas on the Carlisle - Chirk timber working, 70805 makes its way over the Ribblehead Viaduct on 30th September 2015 with 6J37, 1258 Carlisle Yard Colas Rail to Chirk Kronospan...

... and passed Ribblehead Station.

edited to correct inaccuracy.

I'm obliged, Jim.  I've corrected my post.

70802 with 56105 at Whalley with 6J37 on 26/7/2014. I think this was the first (and only until today) time a Colas 70 worked south of Hellifield

Saw 70805 in the very distance through the trees from the golf course............

Cheers,

Finally managed to see Colas Rail 70805 on the Carlisle to Chirk log train.  I decided not to go to my local station Wigan but go to Warrington where there is usually a crew change.  It was just a matter of which line through the station it would take.  I was hoping for the goods loop as I would probably have preferred the photos of the train on that line but it briefly stopped at platform 2 for a quick crew change, then off it went with plenty of clag sounding well.

70805 slowly comes into the station

And with plenty of clag off to Chirk

Many thanks to Big Jim for the for the information regarding the 70 being on this train for a few days.

Unfortunately it looks as though the Carlisle/Chirk log train being Class 70 hauled has come to an end for now and reverted back to Class 60 haulage.  I did, however, in the time it has been Class 70 hauled manage to get some photos of the train in the goods loop at Warrington Bank Quay.  Last Friday 9/10/2015 the train was some 40 minutes early arriving at Warrington and I was walking to the station as it pulled in.  I thought I was going to miss it but it stayed parked in the loop until just after 18:00 so was an ideal time to grab some photos.

For anyone wanting any of the Freightliner 70s for sight or for photos Leeds Midland Road is currently the place to be.

70004, 70005, 70006, 70007, 70013, 70015, 70018, 70020 according to TOPS were present on the depot at 06:00 this morning. So that's 8 in total, 9 if you include 70008 working to Leeds FLT.

At 15:40 I sighted 70005, 70006, 70013 and 70015 from a passing train and two more were in the new sidings next to the wheel lathe shed.

66416 in it's recently applied Powerhaul livery was also present.

Hope this helps.
