Here's two photos of the same train from yesterday and today, the Daventry to Coatbridge Intermodal with Freightliner 70018 on the front.  I really like seeing these on the WCML at the moment!  These two photos were taken at Winwick Junction in Warrington.  I must try go get to my local station which is Wigan North Western to grab some photos of the 70's as I do not know how long they will be on this working for.

After working in Penrith today my journey back home crossed paths with the Daventry to Coatbridge containers being hauled by Freightliner 70011.  It was booked to stop at Tebay and that's exactly what it did.  However, there is no great place to get a photo of it as you can see below with 70011 in the loop with lots of clutter in the foreground.

Whilst it was in the loop I went for a drive back towards Shap and here is 70011 tackling Shap from a standing start at Tebay sounding very good in the process!

I still don't like the look of 'em, and think they should be DC electrics, but ......

486H Felixstowe to Lawley Street at Willesden.

479H Ditton to Felixstowe at MK.

486H again, this time at MK.

This evening.

Kevin

Any idea why there are 7 70's there at the moment?

All will be in for repairs and/or maintenance.

It happens every so often where you get 6/7+ of the Freightliner 70 fleet at Midland Road at the same time. It's often when the exams and repairs clash or their are failures and they require repairs.

Or if the 70s are working the liners to Leeds FLT they sometimes run light engine to Midland Road on Friday or Saturday to stable and/or refuel over the weekend ready for Monday.

One or two will probably leave the depot tomorrow light engine to Leeds FLT and then work the intermodal trains.

Hope this helps.

I think Crewe on a mission as it right.

But i have never seen them lined up before.

Fantastic photo!

According to WNXX 70004, 70009, 70010, 70013, 70014, 70017 and 70019 are all lined up in your photo in need of repair and are sidelined but not stored.

Very interesting that they seem to be sidelined awaiting repair. This hasn't really happened before. If they have all been lined up like that it suggests that they don't plan to repair them immediately.

Usually if Freightliner Class 70s are awaiting repair at Midland Road they are just parked with the 66s and not lined up awaiting repair in a large group.

Thanks for the information. That's a fair chunk of the Freightliner class 70 fleet out of action.
