Andy Y
A question The bill of materials quotes the following paints 9 Gall #2551 Outside Body 1 1/2 Gall #2661 For trim Doors and windows are Stone Grey Any ideas of the Santa Fe colour schemes Andy From http://www.rushcounty.org/rushhistoricalmuseum/rchhistory.html The depot in Cowtown was painted mineral brown with dark green trim and white window mullions, the color typical of depots constructed prior to 1910. During the years 1930 through 1950, the Santa Fe painted its depots in the familiar yellow with bronze green trim. The Timken Depot, having been constructed prior to 1910, led society members to believe that it would have been painted in the mineral brown scheme. An early photo of the building showing it painted in a dark color further aluded to the possibility. When society members inspected the building, a close examination of exposed wood beneath layers of peeling yellow paint revealed that the building was indeed originally reddish-brown with green trim. 10 and a half gallons might be a bit much for it though. DonB
What about a caravan err wild west wagon It seems that Mr. Wagonbasher has enough problems with Stetsons, don't think he'd be too keen on feathered head-wear for the attacking "Injun"war party! RMweb Premium wagonbasher Posted November 23, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 23, 2015 Hi A bit more building... I need to buy some clap board planking tomorrow from modellers Mecca... I bought some on Friday, scaled to 6 inch as per the Bill of materials however it is profiled section according to the plans so the the building will look more like it has 3 inch planks so it needs quite fine planking. RMweb Premium wagonbasher Posted November 24, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 24, 2015 They are the Andrew Staden Edwardian workmen figures in HO... they do them in OO as well. They have generally been carved here and there, the 'dusters' and things like belts are all made from self adhesive aluminium tape. Guns etc are just plasticard clippings. Hats are a variety of bits and pieces including a couple of Anzac heads from some ww1 figures. These are the same figures in 4mm for the Tackeroo WW1 training camp railway
RMweb Premium wagonbasher Posted November 24, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 24, 2015 Have you worked out which of the characters I converted into Woody, Jack and Al ?? After a visit to Modellers Mecca today I have the correct size of planking (as close as I can get anyway) and I clad three of the four sides tonight. The style of timber building with architrave around the frames means the windows can drop in later. The windows do require extra bars on the fixed part of the sash but for now that will have to wait.
