Hi all

Had a few problems with one of the point motors yet again, had to replace it but otherwise running well. Little cold in the place. Just a few quick shots, will try and take some better ones in the next day or so.

Hi Peter,

Remind me to run through setting up accessorys (cobalts) with you again.

I saw Richard struggling with setting up the point routes so have programmed a few macros into your Powercab to make things easier.

Macro 1 is for the platform route. (Macro, 1, Enter)

Macro 2 is for the passing loop. (Macro, 2, Enter)

I'll set up another one to access the refinery in the morning.

Ive also put a few locos in the recall stack so you don't have to keep inputting their numbers. Just hit the 'recall' button to cycle through them.

Ray.

Hi Ray

Thank you for that but after the trouble with those dam points I think  I am going to chang them for Seep's with a micro switch on them and a small panel with the track layout on and stud and contact probe. To date out of 18 DCC colbats  10 have now failed plus we have yours and I know of another Member that has had 40 odd now fail..

Anyway mank thanks for that.

Did you manage to find the information on the Spud motor for conversion to DCC?

Cheers

Peter

Hi All

Well on the sunday at the show the rain was as you would say P...... ....g down  so we all finished at 3.00pm. Nobody in the place so I had some time to start the small office for the tar works which should have been done 12 months ago. A few shots of the start of this. Did a little more last night. so will post them to day or tomorrow.

As you can see from the thread above three of the DCC point motors went down again so I will seriously consider changing these to seep motors or if I can aford them to Dcc Tortoise motors.

Cheers

Peter

Hi all

Here are a few shots of the layout after the photo shoot last Friday. As usual the 13th lived up to its name. The small loco chips arrived for the two Class 14's. The first one that  I took out of the box had not been opened since I got it from Hattons last year  and I found that the two small covers that hide the body screws are missing. I then went on to fit the chip  which was quite easy but then the problems started in the fitting of the body back onto the chassis. Could not get it to seat down onto the foot plate with all the wires now under the body in the end dropped the dam thing so now we are missing the hand rails off the front steps smashed cab steps both sides part of the interior cab back plate bent. will have to see if Hattons can supply some spare parts. Needless to say the other one is still in its box untouched.

Hi All

Been a while since I posted on this thread but ocver the last few weeks have been adding a few bits of detail to the layout in readiness for the coming Colwyn Bay show this weekend.

Have added more people in the works and on the platform etc. The biggest item has been putting all the point rodding in using the Wills kits which I should have done at the beginning as it is so fiddly trying to retro fit it. More trees and shrubs have also been added and there are still a couple of extra signals to be fitted.

Couple of shots of the layout, one of which is my Bachmann 08 which had the con rods busted at the GCR show and now replaced with a spare set from Peters Spares.

Will take a few more shots befdore the weekend but in the meantime don't forget to visit the show.

Cheers

Peter

Hi all

Back home and everything put away after the Colwyn Bay show. Many thanks to David and all the team from Colwyn Bay Club for a really nice show, very enjoyable.

Looking forward to an invite back to do demonstrations next year hint hint.

The layout, apart from a broken joint and 2 engines that wouldn't work possibly wrong chip address, worked well.

Many thanks to Carwyn and Richard & Ben for their help in operating.

I still cannot get into the operating mode and much prefer the building and demo side.

Below are some shots I took at the show.

Hi Terry

No, not for this one at present, open to invites as it just fits in the car and trailer.

The larger layouts Bridge of Muir is at Hartlepool and the Great Electric Train Show in October. Glen Gillie & Loch Inch is at Perth Green next March and Great Tunsley Dale is at The Great Central Show in June next.

If you are ever in North Wales you are most welcome to call and see the layouts at the unit, just pm me and I will send you details.

Hi Peter, I hope the Show goes well for you, I hope to be there, but I've not been well again just lately so not sure if I'll make it this year.

Sorry to hear that, Andrew, health is more important than a show IMHO.

Hi all

Thanks for your kind comments.

Hope you can make it Andrew health permitting.

Layout is at present up in the dining room being dusted and checked ready for the show. Will try and post a few shots. Last Tuesday, a week ago, Mike Wild from Hornby mag was here doing another photo shoot on Porth Eithin, my china clay layout, but will be sometime early next year when article comes out.

Hope to see you all at the show.

With the number of layouts that you've had featured in HM, have you considered just putting Mike up at your house to save him travelling. :jester:

Seriously, I hope that you don't have any repetition of last year's hire company problems.

Regards

Stewart
