Grimleygrid
Hi Leon, loving all the 37 action, not sure about GMs?!!! The depot looks great full to the brim with locos, do they do permits?!! I think you should get 501 and 502 as per Scott's photo!
Leon
Thanks Grimley, The Blue Britsih Steel 501 is an interesting one. The Dock end fiddle yard has been re layed, as this is well hidden from the rest of the layout due to the Steelworks, The 37 & 56 are holding down the track inside the steelworks, the track will eventually continue to the fiddle yrd, the fiddle yard in the background is normally hidden by the works and scenic board. I will one day add ballast, scenics etc inthe fiddle yard and attempt to make it apear more like sidings. I like the look of straight sidings and of course the Marsheling Yard I have is curved. New door fitted on the wagon works as I felt th old one was too big, new one is more to scale, white van man has arrived to do some cosmetic work around where the old one was, not done a very good job tho.. A new sign has been fitted to the servicing shed. Thanks for looking guys.
Poindexter
Hello Guy, Have not seen much progress on yours recently, or have I missed it, hows it going ? Hi Leon. Ive messing about with locos and sound chips. Then I decided to start on another layout!! http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/66572-millfield-a-helix-build-in-progress/ Fear not, for every loco you strip of the mighty Kingfisher I shall replace thrice fold! (I must stop drinking Jack Daniels on a work night!!)

Leon
Thanks 66' Guy, I have been listening to class 37,s on YouTube some in South Wales, the sound they made make hairs stand up there is nothing like it on the planet, I really need to save up and get a sound chip..... Ohhh I named my cat JD, lol I use to be fond of a class or two.
marc smith
Thanks 66' Guy, I have been listening to class 37,s on YouTube some in South Wales, the sound they made make hairs stand up there is nothing like it on the planet, I really need to save up and get a sound chip..... Ohhh I named my cat JD, lol I use to be fond of a class or two. Yes, the 37 has a great sound And there were plenty in South Wales.... Back in the late 70's I can well recall the tripple headed 37's on the Port Talbot to Llanwern... They made the bridge I used to stand on shake like hell.... It's partly what got me into spotting Anyhow, re the sound chip It was DCC sound that got me back into modelling OO And I always say, I'd rather have 2 or 3 sound fitted locos, than 20 or 30 that don't have sound Be warned, once you have one, you may well end up being smitten! DCC aside, you could try playing a cd / MP3 file of loco sound recordings It's cheaper than sound decoders, and it's surprising how much atmosphere it adds Looking good Leon, you've got a lot of space for your layout..... Lucky you ATVB Marc
Guest Dave.C
After Scott posted the above picture earlier I thought I can almost replicate that: Whilst not being able to match Marc's memories of triple heading. Doubles heading up Hunts Cliff after leaving Skinningrove works made a right racket
Leon
Hi Marc, Yes having so much room is great, but also then it becomes costly, I often think if I had gone for a smaller sized layout ofjust a TMD or small works It would now be complete and with all sound loco's. Its a struggle to fr one person to work on a large layout. I will look at the mp3 option for the time being, must be something on the web I can get. Dave, great picture, you got it spot on there....You just so happened to have the right loco's at the right time..lol. Brill. The Yard has for tonight anyway been handed over and is now a carriage shed, Morfa Bank marshelling yard will be moved to the Dock Fiddle Yard, Some fencing has arrived and hastelly erected, Trainload metals 09 is still about but is seen shunting NSE stock around for the Rugby International weekend. Sorry about the poor pics and spelling, lighting not too good in the attic tonight. Plus having a few Bitters whilst I work I think yard full of coaching stock looks better than wagons, more colour maybe???? Who knows, maybe out with the freight 37's and in with the Intercity 47/8's ps why does everything only look wonky after you take the picture ?
pitbull1845
Hi Leon, I like the idea of a rugby special being temporarily stabled, fencing looks good too. I also agree about having a large area to work with does get costly and certainly with me, the more room I have the more ideas I have, hence why it keeps changing. I can't see you changing to passenger services, stick with the freight. What about a DMU to run to the docks? Cheers Scott
Leon
Allways liked locomotive hauled coaching stock, the yard will be used to stable stock on busy weekends, The fencing I think is where I want it, just need to tidy it up a bit, I tend to rush to put somr thing in place and never go back o improve it. I did sanp some freight before I left though. Cheers

Leon
Morning all, about to add fishing wire to the 16 telegraph poles, this looks fiddley. Going to make cleaning the track very awkward in future. Will let you know how it goes.

Cheers Leon No, i normaly watch on you tube howes or biffo"s Dcc sound channels,to se what sound chips to buy my newest sound is from biffo!! 37/4 well impressive with bass enhanced speaker...
Leon
I will have a listen to the Biffo one later today then. I managed to add the wires to the telegraph poles, pretty easy will just make track cleaning a bit awakward. Painted them black just need to finish off the poles and add a bit more detail. Im not sure if its the norm for the wires to cross railway lines, ( Im sure someone will know ) Too late to run them in trunking under the tracks now, they only cross the track in one place near the Depot. Will try to find a load of model pigeons and seagulls now to perch on..Im sure I have seen some about. Need to place an order fo another 16 poles to work around to the steelworks and some more security fencing to finish the Wagon works area, hopefully back to getting some rolling stock or a 37 sound chip then.

Leon
Hi all, Many thanks to Marcus of Godfrey Road for the exciting new Yard signs. I have roughly placed them where I think I will site them, a little bit of work to complete them, Printed them off onto photograph paper and they have come out really clear. Very pleased, thanks again Marcus great work.
