Dear all

I have received PM's over the last few months commenting on the absence of updates on Leaman Road. My mind has been elsewhere over the past few months, planning other projects and generally taking a break from some areas of online life.

I have therefore decided that I will not be updating Leaman Road on RMweb henceforth, but instead will be moving things to my independently hosted blog. Thank you for the support over the past year and a half, and I hope you continue to follow developments at 50A Works.

Best Wishes

Tom

Sorry to see you go Tom, have enjoyed your 'struggles' with an era you were not personally familiar with, (neither was I except in a pram!!).

I will follow your work elsewhere as you have indicated, thanks for your interest in some of my work on this forum!

All the best from Oz,

Peter C.

I'm really very touched with the amount of likes Alan's post has received. It makes me realise how much many of you have enjoyed watching Leaman Road's development. For anyone who has any doubts, this isn't the end of Leaman Road. Over the Summer, James is coming over to help the completion of wiring. Plans are a foot for the new engine shed which I shall start developing over the Summer.

I'll be updating my blog frequently, with update on another ECML project some may be interested in.

Thanks again guys, keep in touch!

I shall be following too Tom. What is obvious from meeting you and your thread on here is, that you have the vision of what you want to achieve and the drive to see it through. Good luck with your new project too.

Mike

Thanks Mike, all the best mate, maybe see you at a show, I'm going to Scale Four North helping in Humber Dock on Saturday and operating over the whole weekend at the Wigan Show in June if you are around. :)

I know I said I wasn't going to update this thread again but I've had some very good news that I feel it's only right to share with you. Some of you may remember I was diagnosed with a benign tumour on my Pituitary Gland last year. I've just returned from an appointment with the specialist at the hospital.

The tumour has reduced by over half it's size and the prolactin levels have reduced from 20,000 to 3000 (they should be around 800) and this is only after being on the treatment 5 months plus the migraines have pretty much gone. This is overall great news, it looks like I will have to be on testosterone supplements for the rest of my life, but that is certainly not the end of the world.

I would like to thank my friends on here ( you know who you are) who have been so supportive over the last few months through some of the difficult issues that have arisen.

Perfect way to really close this thread I think' :)

Best Wishes everyone!

As many of you saw, I said I wouldn't resume this thread, and I left RMweb. I wasn't in a good place months back, and I had my own reasons for leaving.

I heard recently the sad news that Simon Hudson had passed away. Simon was a regular contributor to this thread, and this was one

of the reasons I was prompted to return.

So with a new account, I'm back and as long as people are still interested in Leaman Road, I shall resume posting.

I also have a new Canon camera, bought from a friend which I'm starting to work out how to use. The biggest change has been the decision to model an alternative period. As well as 1950, I'm now working on 1938.

Why 1938? you maybe wondering.

Blame Garter Blue A4s at the Great Gathering...simple!

First up to rejuvenate the thread, two 1938 Gresley A1s, 2548 'Galtee More' of Grantham and 2571 'Sunstar' of Gateshead.

Exciting times for Leaman Road ahead! :locomotive:

Thanks Mike!

I have some more photos, which I shall upload later on this evening. 1938 is proving to be a very interesting period. :)

Great to see you back. I like the idea of developing two eras. I am considering doing the same with my layout, but in my case heading into BR Blue. If funds allowed I would have to consider pre-nationalisation!

Hi Tom, good to see you back. RMweb is the most accessible form I think.

Regarding the dual date, the very reasonably priced purchase of some Hornby teak sleepers and full brakes has thrust me further in that direction. My chosen early sixties era can be a little depressing, the filth and the dissolution of everything...

Regards,

Tony.

Hi Mike and Tony,

The thing I'm discovering is that not all the LNER period RTR sells as well as the BR (I suppose that is obvious when you think about it.)

For example, the Gresley A1s are numerous with York having 4 or it's books in 1938. The suitable donor is 4475 'Flying Fox' which Hornby released some time ago. I won one on ebay yesterday for £57......can't be bad.

As I promised, some more photos.

2548 'GALTEE MORE' of Grantham is being oiled up ready for her return journey South.

2548 is seen again, alongside Gateshead's 2571 'SUNSTAR'

Thanks Neil!

Next up is an A4 Mallard which will become 4901 'CAPERCAILLIE' and another Gresley A1 but I've not decided on an identity yet.

It may be of interest, but 2571 'SUNSTAR' has had some modifications to change her from a Doncaster build, to a North British build. The first stage was to remove the Doncaster works plate from the smokebox sides and added the North British Plates onto the splasher, below the name plates.

I also replaced the Doncaster reach rod, with a correctly shaped North British type. Brassmasters offer this on their detailing etches.

Cheers
