Don't forget the posh box and the 'Souvenier Cover' stamps thingy inside. It's part of the Royal Mail Great British Railways Collection which apparently makes it worth an extra 50 quid. I notice even Hattons aren't discounting it (yet).

Interesting(?) to see Hattons make a much better job of presenting the product on the web than the manufacturer.

Crikey, that's an awful lot of money for a model that would struggle to be described as 'mid-fi'.

Indeed - it's one which Simon Kohler admitted in a chat with me 'to be less than satisfactory in comparison with our other recent models'. But I suppose any likely purchasers of this should count themselves lucky when they could be in for an ex-Airfix N2 in an 'Olympics' special pack with a couple of teak liveried coaches (not suburbans!) for the princely sum of £204.99 according to Hornby's website - that really is taking the whatsit :nono:
