The Irish border after BREXIT:

The explanation for these mysterious gates (which are quite common along rights of way on Access Land) is the row of insulators on the gateposts. When livestock is on the land, temporary electric fence wires are attached to them.

The patches of worn grass show that the gate is actually in use.

Reminds me of a pub I built for an exhibition - for the name I used the old joke "The Cockwell Inn", done tastefully in Ye Olde English Text - raised quite a few giggles

The old joke in full was:

Proprietor: Margaret Lykes, The Cockwell Inn, Tillet, Herts

Along the lines of Fawcett Inn Cider.

Edited to add: The Fawcett Inn (in Portsmouth) is real. I am told they did have their own cider at one point.

It's quite common to have streets named after people. But how about intersections which unintentionally contain the names of people?

Like a British actor -

And a dancer who starred at the Folies Bergere and was the the only American-born woman to receive full French military honors at her funeral -

(You should Google the lady - she was an amazing person!)

Surely we must have had the Ham Sandwich road sign in East Kent by now.
