Mike at C&M
It has been officially announced that the "Great Leader" has passed away. Let us hope that none of the recent tensions between North Korea and the rest of the world become inflammed.
Baby Deltic
I would imagine that his son is no different, so I wouldn't hold your breath.
Adams442T
In the way of many such despots, I'm sure he's actually been dead for years!
Guest Max Stafford
Hope he's not as 'ronery as his dad... Dave.
DDolfelin
From the little I've seen of him on TV, his son might be worse.

Or, may Seoul* rest in peace? He suffered a fatal heart attack while travelling on a train, apparently. (*Yes, I know the difference between North and South Korea.) Andy Y
This clip looks like Rent-a-mourner - http://www.bbc.co.uk...acific-16241242 A carefully choreographed crowd watched by onlookers and a line-up of grieving workers.
Coldgunner
Horrible man, good riddance. However his son does sound worse so not sure what to expect. I doubt the regime will collapse as a result.
RMweb Gold BoD Posted December 19, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 19, 2011 If the regime continues, which looks likely, I hope the succession goes smoothly. The worst case scenario would be that his son is not accepted and so needs to do something 'drastic' to prove himself to the people. A real worry for that part of the world. 10800
A carefully choreographed crowd watched by onlookers and a line-up of grieving workers. And probably well rehearsed. They certainly look well-nourished unlike most North Koreans AIUI.
S.A.C Martin
I was so looking forward to watching his next round of golf too...perhaps he might have bettered his eleven holes in one next year, we will never know!
Kenton
Wasn't his son educated, in part, in the west? Perhaps that will rub off to an extent. I think a change of leadership anywhere is an opportunity for all governments to seek closer diplomatic relations. The question in NK is more who is really pulling the strings of power? RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted December 19, 2011 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 19, 2011 A lot depends on the Chinese who would not tolerate more than a little sword rattling. In fact they might insist on some changes for the better.
trisonic
I dunno, the Chinese have done some sabre-rattling of their own recently - plus they have a brand spanking new super - carrier they are itching to use. In the meantime the RMWeb foamers will be worried about getting their new locos in time.... Best, Pete.

Horsetan
A lot depends on the Chinese who would not tolerate more than a little sword rattling. In fact they might insist on some changes for the better. The Chinese have a somewhat ambivalent attitude towards North Korea, which it sees as useful as providing a distraction for the West. However, China doesn't want North Korean citizens seeking refuge on Chinese soil, which is why it has returned almost all of the ones it has caught crossing the border.
