How does this Lima ex-LMS Parcel Van qualify as "kit built"? Described as repainted and renumbered only and a snip at £34.50 from "Gobs"

Yep, its junk. They were crap when new!

I just asked him, how is this "kit built"?

I was polite I might add. :sarcastic:

I go out of my way to accurately describe anything I sell and I get abit miffed with these p*** takers!

Or, £72 plus £3 p&p from the manufacturer.

Mike.

No that is for the kit alone - this is offered for sale with TWO tenshodo (yeuk) power units (actually the wrong ones as Black Beetles are recommended and slightly more superior) - and it also includes the 2 pantographs.

As so often a kit requires more than simply the etchings...

So all-in-all not a bad starting/reserve price - as long as you can resell the tenshodos to some other unsuspecting or less fussy ebuyer.

At some point in its life it had to be assembled from parts. Perhaps that is his method of thinking?

Thanks Kenton.

Note to self, read all the flaming description.

These bogies seem like a good deal and very reasonable shipping.

If you check the detail bit the sale is for 25 pairs! Now who wants 25 pairs at once?  I suspect most potential buyers see the top line and think that's a lot for one pair of bogies, no doubt just as you did!  With all that free space in the title you would have thought ....

I think he has the point in the wrong place as this one the P&P is 99% cheaper  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111236109142

But its local delivery for you - almost! You'll be able to drive it home, except for that pesky gauge difference, or is it?

Well, I could get them to Midland on the 4'81/2" but then it'll be a long, 25 km, slog up the old 3'6" trackbed from there. Maybe if I get a few lengths of old rail....:D.

I don't know the price in Australia, but it still seems expensive even for 25 pairs, especially considering they are second hand. Also how are 4mm bogies suitable for 0n3? (The gauge works out at around 2' 4" (or 2' 6" in 1:48) and the rest is similarly undernourished.)

Reported as misrepresentation.

Forgot to add that, obviously, eBay won't take a blind bit of notice, partly because they don't really know the difference between RTR and kitbuilt anyway, and partly because they are only concerned about extracting their fees......

I imagine this will still sell by virtue of the Rails factor, but still seems expensive - especially given that it no longer carries its limited certificate. Why not just renumber/rename a perfectly good equivalent model? Certainly beats trying to remodel the cab upright on the left side!

Very expensive for a defective model, considering there are others on Ebay far cheaper.
