I don't know what this was dipped in (and I think knowing would be too much information).  Anyway whatever it was, caused the 'arrows of indecision' to get reversed.  There's nothing like an eye for detail  :nono:

Each to his/her own, I suppose.

I actually like that finish for a loco that has been stood in the open for a few years. I like the way the rust has been done on the lower bodyside, it really does look as though the body rot has set in good and proper, (just like an old Mk3 Cortina I used to drive).

OK so one of the BR symbols is the wrong way round, but the other looks ok, and at least the seller has been brave enough to include a photo of the original that the weathering is based on.

Credit where credit is due, I say.

Huh?!?

There are piles of them in virtually every WHSmiths in the land at £2.99 and yet this has bids on it above that.

Remember though eBay is a global marketplace.............not everyone has a WHSmiths :)

True, but, like most of these things, it has been overdone. The corrosion in the prototype photo is much less severe and the paintwork has faded. 'Subtle' is the keyword with successful weathering IMHO.

It may be very realistic for a locomotive that has been seriously abandonded, but why then is it important that it "Runs well in both directions"?

So you can throw away the body & reuse the chassis?

Another example of the dreaded "very rare"!

Surprisingly, he has a maroon switcher (Much harder to find) for sale at about a third of that price. I've asked the seller if this is a typo.

Not so far off, in my opinion. This shows it at Meldon a few years back:

I can't be sure if it's 423 or 422 parked up at Derby now, anyway it looks pretty dire.

Please note from photos that the Thomas engine has come away from the housing so not sure if it still works, there is also a wooden engine in the photo that is not included.

err how can you tell if there's no photo in the first place?

Sorry but I don't see any pronounced orangey bits on the photo of the actual loco?  Surely if you're going to the trouble of including a picture of the real thing then the model should approximate to the real thing?

Perhaps the item actually on sale is a sign that says 'No image available'?

This really is W-T-F ?????? There really are some desperate bidders out there !!!!!!!!

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/291087238349?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

How much would a complete, working, good S/H Class 37 cost?

And you would get a body, chassis, motor etc!

or you could have this:
